CARBON CAPTURE, UTILIZATION

& STORAGE CONFERENCE
Advancing CO2 Emission Reduction Systems to
Achieve Global Goals, Meet Electricity Needs &
Utilize Domestic Resources
April 28 - May 1, 2015
The Wyndham Grand | Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

CALL FOR PAPERS

The International Energy Agency has concluded that the commercial
deployment of CCUS/CCS systems is a MUST to meet GHG emission goals
determined necessary to avoid the catastrophic effects of climate change. It
is also demonstratively evident that often-mentioned goal of world leaders
to meet the electricity needs of impoverished countries is not economically
achievable without utilizing indigenous fossil resources. The Annual CCUS
Conference has for the past 13 years been one of the vehicles to support meeting
both these objectives.
The 2015 conference convenes with fossil-based power generators at a
crossroads, not only in the U.S., but globally:
< The U.S. EPA deadline for CO2 emissions reduction from existing coalfired power plants is set for June 2015;
< Future U.S. coal-fired electric power plants face additional EPA
requirements; and
< the U.K. liberal party is calling for banning coal-generated electricity
from old plants without CCS.
The challenge facing the industry is to bring CCUS/CCS systems to the
commercialization stage to allow the use fossil resources in a decarbonized
economy. Moreover, with the Obama Administration pressing for action on a
global scale, CCUS/CCS systems are an absolute necessity to support the stated
global commitment to accelerate access to electricity, in an economically viable
manner, for 20 - 25% of the worlds population.
Given this environment, the 14th Annual CCUS Conference again invites
key decisionmakers and technical experts from around the globe to share
their knowledge and experience to accelerate the commercialization of
CCUS/CCS systems. Though the emphasis is on systems that are being or
could be deployed in North America, work undertaken outside North
America that would contribute to progress here is of equal importance.
