Course Objectives:

To acquaint the students with


The Accounting concepts, Principles and working knowledge of recording and
maintaining the books of accounts of various organizations.
The preparation and finalization of final statements of various trading organizations as
per Accounting standards and Provisions of company act.

Unit-1 - Introduction to Accounting
Accounting concepts and conventions- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Double Entry System - Accounting cycle-Classification of accounts - Journal and ledgerSubsidiary Books- Trial Balance Suspense Account Accounting Equation - Practical
application.

Unit- II- Final Accounts
Preparation and presentation of financial statements Distinction between capital and
revenue expenditure Preparation of Final Accounts income statement and balance sheet with adjustments-Bad debts- provision for bad debts and doubtful debts-out standing
expenses- accrued incomes- Practical application- Depreciation - Causes for depreciationMethods of depreciation- Straight line method- Written down value method- Practical

Financial Statements Analysis - Vertical &Horizontal Analysis-Common size and Comparative
