Trashketball Rules
Materials:
1. Piece of paper waded up to be used as the Trashketball
2. Trashketball Worksheets (one per student)
3. Trashcan located at the front of the room
4. A designated spot where students can shoot 2 point baskets
5. A designated spot where students can shoot 3 point baskets.
6. A sheet of scratch paper and a pencil for each student.
How to Play:
1. The teacher selects a student to be the score keeper. The score keeper must play the game, too.
2. Teacher selects a number from the Trashketball Sheet to begin the game with. All students must answer the number in
this square.
3. Teacher calls on a student and that student must answer the question. If that student gets the question correct, the
students team gets 1 point, and the student gets to shoot the Trashketball from either the 2pt. or 3pt. line. If the student
makes the basket, his/ her team will get either 2pts or 3pts added to the team score. If the student gets the answer
incorrect, teacher will select another student and that student will have a chance to answer the question. (It works well to
have each students name in a bucket or basket for the teacher to select from so that each student is selected at random. It
also works well to have students cross out each block after it is used.)
4. Teacher selects another number from the Trashketball Sheet. Students must answer this number in the square. Teacher
draws a number from the Call on Me bucket, and the game continues.
5. The game continues until either all of the squares have been answered or time runs out. The team with the most points
wins.
Special Rules:
1. If any student boos if a teammate does/ does not correctly answer a question or make a shot, that students team loses 1
point. (for bad sportsmanship)
2. If any student talks out of turn, that students team loses 1 point.
3. As students answer a question, they may cross that box off on their TRASHKETBALL sheets.
