Important
IMPORTANT
Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for
future reference.
Check if the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the local mains
voltage before you connect the appliance.
Do not use the appliance if the mains cord, the plug or other parts are damaged.

If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a service centre


authorised by
Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Never reach into the jar with your fingers or an object while the appliance is
running.
If the blades get stuck, unplug the appliance before removing the ingredients that
are blocking the blades.
Never use any accessories or parts from other manufacturers or that have not
been specifically advised by Philips. Your guarantee will become invalid if such
accessories or parts have been used.

Before first use
BEFORE FIRST USE
Thoroughly clean the parts which will come in contact with food before you use the
appliance for
the first time (see chapter 'Cleaning').
Preparing for use
PREPARING FOR USE
Mount the jar onto the motor unit. Turn the jar in the direction of the arrow until you
hear a click (fig. 2).
Do not exert too much force on the handle while turning the jar!
Make sure that the appliance is plugged in.
Push excess mains cord back into the cord storage compartment at the back of the
appliance (fig. 3).
USING THE APPLIANCE
Put the ingredients in the blender jar.
Place the lid on the jar and turn it in the direction of the arrow until it locks into
position with a click (fig. 4).
Disassemble the lid and the jar by turning them in the opposite direction.
The lid has two positions:
One for preparing recipes that require use of a sieve ('sieve position') (fig. 5).
... And one for preparing recipes that do not require use of a sieve ('closed
position) (fig. 6).
Switch the appliance on by pressing I (fig. 7).
Switch the appliance off by pressing 0 (fig. 8).
Do not let the appliance run for more than 4 minutes at a time.
If you have not finished processing after 4 minutes, switch the appliance off for one
minute before

you let it run again.


If you are not satisfied with the result:
- switch the appliance on and off a few times, or
- switch the appliance off and stir the ingredients with a spatula, or
- switch the appliance off and pour out some of the contents of the jar and process a
smaller amount, or add
more liquid and continue processing.

Tips
Liquid ingredients (e.g. oil to prepare mayonnaise) can be poured into the blender jar
through the opening in the lid while the appliance is running (fig. 9).
To crush ice cubes, drop them through the opening in the lid onto the rotating
blades.
To make tomato juice, cut the tomatoes in four and drop the pieces through the
opening in the lid onto the rotating blades.
Cleaning
We advise you to clean the blender jar and the lid immediately after use.
-Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
-Never clean the blender jar and the lid in the dishwasher.
-Avoid touching the blades.The blades are very sharp.
Assemble the blender jar (see chapter 'Using the appliance').
Pour lukewarm water and some detergent into the blender jar.
Place the lid on the blender jar.
Clean the motor unit with a moist cloth. Do not rinse the motor unit under the tap.
Do not use abrasives, scourers, alcohol, etc.
Storage
You can store the mains cord in the appliance by pushing it back into the cord storage
compartment at the back of the appliance (fig. 2).
