Qualifications

BSc in Quantity Surveying

Chartered Quantity Surveyor

Years of experience

15 years of experience in dealing with major highway construction projects,

including claim / arbitration procedures and methods.

Terms of Reference

Experience in the planning of major projects with particular emphasis on the

utilisation of computer programs such as Primavera or equally capable programs
for the planning and tracking of similar projects is a requirement. This person will
also provide assistance to the team during negotiations, arbitrations, or any other
form of dispute resolution process. Computer literacy and excellent computer
skills are essential.

Working Hours

The post is a site position, based on a 6 day working week (Saturday to

Thursday) and an 8 hour working day.

Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities

As the manager of the quantity surveying team the Senior Quantity Surveyor is
responsible for:

The management of the Supervising Consultants quantity surveying team.

The evaluation of the Contractors cash flow proposals.

Putting in place the contract cost control and claim management systems.

Evaluating and making recommendations on the cost implications of change

proposals from the Contractor.

Evaluation of the Contractors monthly interim payment requests.

Preparation and recommendations on variation orders.

Participation in dispute resolution / arbitration proceedings.

Preparation of the final account.

Preparation of the monthly Cost Report, to include the analysis of Value of

Work Done to Date, Estimate at Completion, etc.

Inputs to the PMC cost control system.

Attendance at regular cost control and progress meetings.

Assist the Senior Resident Engineer with contractual matters /

correspondence.

Provide financial advice / input with regard to the project risk management
procedures.

Additional Information
Age

Experience

Previous experience in the Middle East would be an advantage.

In depth knowledge of FIDIC, ICE and similar contract form procedures.
Experience in using Primavera P6.

Languages

Fluent spoken and written English.

A working knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.

Visa Requirements

It is presently problematic to obtain Qataris visas for Syrian and Jordanian

citizens.
