    eachregionexperiencedpeace,theirmethodsofconqueringcontrastedwiththeMongolsraiding
    andpillagingvillagestogaincontrolofthem,whileMaliallottedalliancesbetweenregional
    tribes.Thesetwoempiressharedimportantaspects,buttheirkeydifferencesestablishedtheir
    uniqueness.
    TheMongolEmpiregrewinsizewiththeirfrequentEurasianconquestsandattacks.
    UndertheGenghisKhan,theMongolEmpiregrewtobethebiggestempiretheworldhasever
    known,spanningfromRussiatotheIslamicworld,attheexpenseanddestructionofthosewho
    wereconquered.TheMongolsshowedunparalleledbrutalitytothosewhoopposedthem,and
    thatbrutalityalmostalwaysledtotheirutterdevastation.Ontheothersideofthespectrum,the
    MaliEmpirerosethroughpeacefulconciliationofdifferentstates.Thisdifferencecreatedagap
    inpowerbetweenthetwo,withtheMongolshavingmoremilitarymightwithMali,and
    respectivelymostoftheworldatthetime.Despitetheviolencerampantintheconquestofthe
    MongolEmpire,theyshowedreligioustoleranceliketheMaliEmpire.TheMaliEmpirehad
    manydifferentreligiousgroupspresentinitsstates,fromChristianitytoIslam,andevenprimal
    polytheisticreligions.EvenwithIslambeingthepredominantreligioninthatregion,other
    religionsexperiencednopersecution.IntheMongolEmpire,unconqueredstatesshowed
    religiouspersecutionandtheirreignallowedapersonsreligiontobepracticedinopenwithout
    anybacklash.Thiswipedoutanyoppressionpresentinpreviousestablishmentsandallowed
    themtorulemoreeasily.Apartofthisprosperitycomesfromthelackofinterestinreligion,
    sincetheMongolsweremoreinterestedinmilitarymightandmoneythanestablishingtheirown
    religion,akeydifferencebetweenMaliandtheMongols.
    Akeydifferencebetweenthesetwoempiresliesinreligiouspresence.Islamwas
    extremelypopularinSubSaharanAfrica,andbecauseoftheMuslimemphasisontrade,and
    Africaasacenterforrawnaturalresources,theIslamicinfluencenaturallygrew.Withoutthe
    presenceofIslam,Muslimtraderswouldnothavecausedaninfluxoftrade,thusnogrowthtoa
    greatempire.MansaMusa,afollowerofIslam,spreadhisenormousfortuneduringhishaj
    throughoutAfricatotheextentofdevaluingit.ThatshowinfluentialIslamwas.TheMongols,
    however,wereonlyinterestedinmonetaryandterritorialgain.Aftertheircaptureofastate,
    thosewhosworeallegianceweresparedandwereabletopracticetheirownreligionsforthe
    priceoftributewhilethosewhoopposedthemwerekilled.Thisallowedmanyreligionsto
    prosper,thushavingnodominantreligion.Despitethesedifferences,theseempiresroseby
    establishingasortofstrongeconomicsystem,whetherbytradingortribute,influencedbythe
    incentiveofreligion.Ontopofthat,theMongolsrevivedtheSilkRoadandaspurofcultural
    exchangehappened.
    TheMaliandMongolEmpiresbecameextremelyinfluentialintheirrespectiveregions.
    Despitetheirgreatness,theywereobtainedthroughdifferentmethods,liketheMongolsusing
    violencewhileMaliusingreligionandtrading.Eventhoughtheyhadsomedifferences,the
    tolerationofculturebetweenthetwoestablishedpeacewithintheirempires.Twoempiresintwo
    differentplacesoftheworlds,subSaharanAfricaandAsia,grewtogreatnesswithamyriadof
    ways.
