Dear Dr.

-----------,
I, Vedant Sumaria, am currently in my third undergraduate year and pursuing a
Bachelor of Technology Degree course in the Department of Power Systems
Engineering at University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), India. UPES is
known as Indias and Pan Asias first Energy and Core Sector University. UPES is
currently working on various projects mainly in alternate fuel technology and
renewable resources. I would like to express my interest to work under your able
guidance in the field of Polymer Photovoltaic for the period of 3 months starting
from June 2015.
Currently, I am working under the guidance of Dr. P. Vijay, Depart of Chemical
Engineering, UPES. We are working on fabrication and optimization of polymer
based organic photovoltaic cells for cost effectiveness and better efficiency. As it is
known, among many materials investigated fullerene derivative shows the greatest
potential being effective electron acceptor. Thus we started with the polymer blend
of Poly (3-hexythiophene) (P3HT) and 1-(3-methoxycarbonyl) propyl-1-phenyl [6, 6]
C61 (PCBM) being the most studied polymer blend materials around the world for
bulk heterojunction structure of an organic solar cells (OSCs). After going through
the previous literature on the matter we wrote a review which was accepted at
SCHEMCON conference in Haldia. Previously we also published a paper on Essential
variables to control the Fill Factor at Advance Material Science Conference, Amritsar.
We plan to optimize the cell efficiency by thermal annealing and solvent annealing
so that there is an improvement in polymer crystallinity, light absorption in the
polymer, carrier transport, and blend film nano-morphology. Polymer morphology
and dimension control is also being studied.
My current CGPA is 3.42 on a scale of 4 and have a department rank of 1 in the
batch of 60 students. I have worked in simulation and modeling using MatLab and
am proficient in virtual modelling SolidWorks and AutoCAD. During my industrial
internship last summer at Reliance Energy, one of the top companies in power
sector, I designed a heat exchanger for the main transformer that would act as
power transformer heat recovery system which would utilize the waste heat of
the transformer. I used HTRI Xchanger Suite for the designing.
I find the field of Photovoltaic very intriguing. My previous work and interests
attracts me towards this and working under you would enhance my knowledge on
the matter. I am hoping to learn more on nanomaterials, especially its use in solar
cell fabrication. This would be helpful for my post-graduation study which I plan to
do in nano science and material study.
To ensure proper candidacy, a telephonic or Skype interview can be arranged as per
your convenience. I have attached my resume for your kind referral.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Yours Sincerely,
Vedant Sumaria
