SHORT COURSE ON SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION


Background of the Course
As business grow the need of systems administrators rises. Many companies seek for competent systems
administrators to manage their systems. The Institute of Finance Management announces the systems administration
course to provide participants with knowledge and skills on effective designing, troubleshooting and configuring
network systems and Linux systems. The course will consists of two major modules; network administration and
Linux administration.
Learning Outcomes of the course:
At the end of the course the participants would be able to:
Understand fundamentals of internetworking.
Understanding Ethernet Technology and design of an effective network.
Be able to configure routing protocols, VLAN, NAT, DHCP in Cisco routers and switches.
Be able to implement and administer security policies via Access Control Lists.
Be able to troubleshoot network problems.
Administering Linux accounts, process, packages installation, partitions etc
Acquire all necessary knowledge and skills that it takes to sitting for CCNA and Linux certifications.
Target Group
This training is relevant to middle and technical level ICT management. It is therefore designed to accommodate
systems analysts and designers, database developers, and network managers. It is appropriate to fresh IT and
Computer Science graduates who are interested in the systems administration field. The training is also most useful
for those intending to sit for CCNA, RHCSA and RHCE certification exams.
Course Delivery Method
Delivery approach will be through a series of lectures, practicals to give participants hand-on skills, group
discussions and presentations.
Course Venue and Dates
This training is intended to be held at the premises of the Institute of Finance management (IFM) located along
Shaaban Robert Street in Dar es Salaam. Date: 18th February 2015 03th March, 2015; Monday to Friday starting at
1700hrs to 2000hrs.
Fees and Mode of Payment
A fee of TZS 500,000/=for non students and TZS 150,000/= for university/college students will be charged to cover
registration and access to all course materials. Participants will have to arrange for their own accommodation. We
kindly request you to deposit the fees to The Rector IFM, through Acc. no 01J1042984102 CRDB Bank.
