Mode 2: For max. 3 single commands. More than 1 input active at the same time will
cause the switch off for all commands.
Mode 3: For max. 4 commands. If more than 1 input is active at the same time this
will cause a one by one transmission with priority for a defined time.
Mode 3b: For max. 4 commands. This mode combines 2 times mode 1, transmitting
2 inputs uncoded with the permissive tripping evaluation and 2 inputs coded in the direct tripping evaluation at the receiver.
Mode 4: For max. 4 commands. In this mode only 1 input may be active at a time.
Mode 5A: For the transmission of max. 3 independent commands. For each input
combination a separate trip frequency is available. The transmission is executed uncoded.
For jumper settings of the PU3, DLE and interface modules IFC-x refer to chapter 4 Commissioning. The pinout of the IFC-x, SWT-x/DLE resp. SWT-x/SC connector is shown in chapter 3
Installation.

Chapter 3: Installation
This chapter provides all necessary information for the installation and wiring of the PowerLink
system and is principally concerned with the connector panel.
At the beginning, you find the dimensions of a PowerLink 50/100 system. It follows the connection of the power supply and its interconnection in the PowerLink 50/100 system.
Subsequently you find the HF connector wiring to the HF connecting board 75 Ohm or
150 Ohm.
The RS232-1A up to 4A interfaces are used for connecting RTUs to the integrated FSK channels
or to the integrated multiplexer (iMUX resp. vMUX). The RS232-1B up to 4B interfaces have the
same function but in this case the data transmission is executed via the RS232 splitter and the
RTS signal must be activated. The splitter function is described in the chapter 2 of this manual.
The RS232-5 up to 8 interfaces serve for connecting RTUs to the iMUX resp. vMUX. The pinout
for all is shown in the chapter 3.
The analog interface modules VFx are used for the connection of analog signals in the frequency range from 300 Hz to 3,840 Hz to the PowerLink. From the module in slot 1, all 4 ports can
be used (VFX1-1 up to VFX1-4). In slot 2 only the ports 1, 2 and 3 and in slot 3 only port 1 can be
used.
Connectors for all ports: 37-pin SUB_D female connectors. Pinout is shown in chapter 3.
If using an E&M speech channel the PowerLink provides an internal power supply on the PS E&M
terminal for the S2 signaling wire from the exchange. Alternatively the power supply of the exchange can be used. Youll find in chapter 3 wiring examples for the different possibilities subsequent to the pinout of the 37-pin SUB_D female connectors.
Connection of an external SWT 3000
In the chapter installation a cable configuration for connecting an external SWT 3000 via CLE to
the VFx port 3 resp. 4 is shown.
Integrated SWT 3000
For the integrated SWT 3000 the pinout of the digital line interface (DLE), the service channel
(SC) as well as the contact assignment of the interface modules IFC-x is described.
X.21-DP Interface of the Data Pump
If the iMUX or vMUX is not used an external multiplexer can be connected to the Data Pump via
the X.21 interface on the connector panel. The pinout as well as connecting cables are shown in
this chapter. Youll find more information about DP adjustment in the chapter 4 commissioning.

Chapter 4: Commissioning
The chapter 4 commissioning provides instructions about the tuning of the transmit and receive filter respectively, jumper settings of the IFC-x modules in case of using an integrated SWT 3000, as
well as a description of all forms in the PowerSys service program with corresponding examples.
The chapter starts with a commissioning sequence. In the CD resp. DVD version, youll find here
links which lead you to the mentioned pages.
Tuning of the Transmit and the Receive Filter
This instruction provides the procedure for the fine-tuning of the line filters. For the coarse tuning
of the filters the program PLPAStraps is needed. The program PLPAStraps has to be installed in
addition to the service program PowerSys. A detailed operating instruction shows how to enter
the necessary information and how to find the corresponding jumper settings.
Subsequently you find the test set up and tuning procedure for the fine-tuning of the transmit and
receive filter respectively.
Dongle
All configurable features of the system are fixed in a firmware ordering number (FW-MLFB) and
have to be enabled. This is carried out in the factory using a dongle which is located on the CSPi
module. In the chapter 4 you find the features which have to be enabled, as well as instructions
for a dongle upgrade on site.
Configuration with the Service PC
This part describes the complete system, HF, and service configuration. Starting with voice (F2),
data (F3) via VFx modules or iFSK channels, protection (F6) integrated or external connected.
Protection Signaling
In the part protection signaling the jumper settings of the PU3, DLE resp. IFC-x modules are available. Subsequently you find instructions for connecting an external SWT 3000 via VFx and fiber optic module (FOM) respectively, and the operating modes single purpose, multi purpose or alternate
multi purpose.
Data Pump
The Data Pump service starts with data transmission via the integrated multiplexer (iMUX) or versatile multiplexer (vMUX) followed by the synchronous interface X.21, ITU-T G703.1 interface, and
the Ethernet interface. Here also the connecting cables are shown, necessary for the external
multiplexer PMX 2100 or PMX 3000.
Further Configuration Settings
This part includes settings of the automatic channel equalization (ACE), remote monitoring (RM),
alarm configurations for the Data Pump as well as settings for the alarm relay(s).
Level Adjustments
At the end of the chapter 4, you find instructions for the TX and RX level settings respectively including examples for feeding and measuring test signals.

Chapter 5: Diagnostics
At the beginning of this chapter, youll find a figure showing the control and signaling elements
of the CSPi module. Subsequently the function of the buttons and LED significations are described.
The PowerLink system provides a diagnostic function displayed on 8 LED at the CSPi and vMUX
module. They can be activated in the service program PowerSys with selecting various diagnostic
modes. The significance of the LED in the corresponding modes is described in the section Diagnostic LED H10 H17 (CSPi) and H1 H8 (vMUX).
Alarms occurring in PowerLink are displayed in the PowerSys form <Information / Alarms / Errors>. The corresponding system reaction is shown in the section System Alarm Display.
Additional to the diagnostic LED also test modes can be selected in the service program. A corresponding description is available in the section Test modes.
The section Data Pump block error provides information about the display of block errors and
useful adjustments for Data Pump block error supervision, in case of using the service Data Pump
in the PowerLink.
Chapter 6: MCM Function
The function MCM (Multi Command Mode) extends the transmission of the integrated SWT 3000
via the analog interface from actual 4 to maximum 24 commands.
If only 20 commands have to be transmitted in the MCM mode, a second SWT 3000 can be integrated in the mounting position B of the PowerLink.
The SWT 3000 with the MCM function is integrated in the PowerLink. The transmission is always
carried out in the alternate multi purpose operation (AMP) in combination with analog voice
channel (F2) or with the Data Pump.
Due to the number of inputs and outputs in the MCM operating mode, the functionality of the interface module IFC-x from the SWT 3000 is divided in the modules IFC-24 and IFC-MCM.
The module IFC-24 only exists once per equipment, and is connected via a front cable to the PU3
(at least PU3f or subsequent). The connecting cables to the IFC-MCM modules are plugged at the
rear side of the module.
The MCM module consists of a basis and a sub module which are connected with each other via
a ribbon cable. The basis module has 2 binary inputs and 4 relay outputs. The sub module also has
2 binary inputs, however here 4 semi-conductor outputs are available.
The chapter 6 provides detailed instructions for commissioning the PowerLink system using the
MCM function including jumper settings for the MCM resp. IFC-24 modules and explanation of the
corresponding forms in the PowerSys service program.
