regionaltitlesineverysport.TheschoolcolorsareOrangeandBlackandthePioneermascotisdressedasa
mid19thcenturyfrontiersman,wearingacoonskinhatwithabrownleatherjacket,pants,andbootswith
leatherfringe.Atonepoint,themascotcarrieda19thcenturyhuntingriflebutthatwasendedbythe
Administrationinthelate1990s.Theirpreviousfootballfieldwasnicknamed"TheBoneyard".The
Pioneers'biggestrivalsaretheTractorsfromDearbornFordsonHighSchoolandtheThunderbirdsof
DearbornEdselFordHighSchool.

ThebandsandorchestrahavereceivedthehighestratingsconsistentlyattheMichiganschoolBandand
OrchestraAssociationBandandOrchestraFestival'sforthepast22years.Theyarerankedinthehighest
AAdivision.Thegroupsplayatlocalvenues,aswellascommunityevents.Themarchingbandhas
performedannuallyintheCityofDearborn'straditionalMemorialDayParade.In2008theMarchingBand
wasinvitedandparticipatedintheNationalMemorialDayParadeinWashingtonD.C.InMarch2011,the
MarchingBandwasinvitedandmarchedinDublin,Ireland'sSt.Patrick'sDayParadeandwashonoredas
theTopYouthBandoftheParade.Inthespringof2013,thegroupsperformedinNewYorkCityatthe
JosieRobertsonPlazaoutsideofLincolnCenter,theTrumpTower,andtheChurchoftheIntercessionin
Harlem.

Theateranddramaprogram
TheDearbornHighSchool(DHS)Theaterprogramisoneoftheoldestsecondaryleveltheaterprogramsin
thestateofMichigan,andtheoldestcontinuoustheaterprogramofanykindintheCityofDearborn.
DearbornHighSchoolisthehomeofInternationalThespianTroupe#586whichwascharteredatthe
schoolin1944.Theprogram'smostfamousalumnuswastheactorGeorgePeppard(classof1946)whoco
starredwithAudreyHepburninthemotionpictureBreakfastatTiffany'saswellasinsuchfilmsasThe
BlueMax,TheCarpetbaggers,andHowTheWestWasWon,appearedonBroadwayinmanyplays
includingBarefootinthePark,andstarredinthetelevisionseriesBanacekandTheAteam.
Since1994,theprogramhasbeenhonoredwith10consecutivenominations(20002010)toperformatthe
annualAmericanHighSchoolTheaterFestivalaswellastotheprestigiousInternationalThespianFestival
andhasproducednumerousStateofMichiganThespianFestivalCompetitionMedalists.

WDHSVideoisavideoprogramfullyrunbystudentsatDearbornHighSchool.[1]Theprogramwas
foundedbyRussGibbin1981.Since1999,itistheonlyprograminthestateofMichiganwherestudents
produceafeaturelengthfilmeveryschoolyear.StudentsannuallypremierethefilmsattheMichaelA.
GuidoTheaterinDearborn,MI.[2]InMay2014,theprogramwonthreestudentproductionawardsfromthe
