he Global LEAP Awards is an international competition to

identify the worlds best off-grid compatible appliances. The
Awards first round will recognize low-voltage direct current
(DC) LED room lighting appliances on the strength of their quality
and energy efficiency.
Manufacturers, resellers, and distributors of low-voltage DC
(e.g. 12V DC) LED lamps and luminaires are encouraged to

world light their homes with dangerous, dirty, expensive kerosenein Sub-Saharan Africa alone, its estimated that $10.5 billion
is spent on kerosene lighting each year. LED-based off-grid lighting
offers off-grid populations a cheaper, cleaner, better alternative.
