Opposites
Phonics
Activity Time
Vocabulary
Fast/slow, loud/quiet, boy/girl, happy/sad, left/right, big/small, yes/no, up/down,
open/close, clean/dirty, hot/cold, hard/soft.
Sentence structure:
What is the opposite? It is slow/fast etc
What is this? It is fast.
Games and Activities
The students will be completing a worksheet which matches opposites together. They will
draw lines to pair up the opposites.
There are some colouring sheets to be completed to further explain some of the opposites
that may need clarifying. The children will discuss the items on the worksheets and look at
real objects that are light and heavy, hard and soft etc, before colouring.
There will be a sorting activity where the children will need to differentiate between hard
and soft and long and short. Various objects will be used to demonstrate the vocabulary.

Phonics Activities
This week the children will finishing off
any colour by number letters that were
not completed throughout semester 2
so far. A few were missed due to
holidays and short weeks. We will
continue with these in order to cover
the whole alphabet. The children
practice numbers, colours, letter
sounds and writing with these
worksheets.
The children will also be reviewing the
blended sounds that we have covered
so far. We will play games such as
board race and sound jump to test
their knowledge and understanding.
There will be no new sounds taught this week as we will be reviewing the blended two
letter words taught so far. We will learn the ABC alphabet song in order to prepare for
learning the letter names next week.
Writing Practice
The children will be writing in their
numbers book this week with focus on
numbers 6 and 7.
Practice will also continue with letter
writing during phonics.
