1 PROJECT STATUS REPORT PURPOSE
The purpose of this report is to provide and update of progress on the
construction

of

New

Photo

Primary

School

at

Caprivi

Village,

Makhuduthamakga in the Sekhukhune District of Limpopo.

2 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

The Project entitle the construction of the new school according with the
Standards from LoBE, in terms of provide the follows facilities:
24 Classrooms in 5 classrooms blocks.
Admin. Block.
2 Multipurpose Classrooms
Computer Centre, Science Lab.
6 Ablution Blocks.
Multipurpose Hall with Nutrition Centre.
Grade R Area.
Gate House.
Covered Walkways.
Netball Courts & Soccer.

4 PROJECT STATUS REPORT TODAY AT 09-11-2010
Projects Details.
The overall Project go a bit behind according the schedule due to delays
in the setting out of site because incorrect co-ordinates from the land
surveyor.
The earthworks for the new platforms have been started on October 27 and
must be finished on November 30.
The excavation stage for the foundations in those blocks (6 blocks) which
dont need earthworks have been finished and the reinforcement should be
start as following step.
The drilling of the borehole for the water supply have been finalized and the
Civil Engineer is busy checking the technical information about the
availability in terms of quality of water, capacity in supply, etc.
Project Summary:

The borehole has been drilled.(see pictures No. 1 y 2)

The excavation of 4 classrooms blocks and 2 multipurpose classes

have been finished and are ready for the next step. (see pictures
No.3 8)

The earthworks are in progress. (see pictures No. 9 y10)

The Bulk power application have been done and the Contractor must
pay during next week R14925.00

Challenges / Issues:

The JBCC Contract with all the necessary documentation have no

been signed.

The date when the project to be completed is in risk because after

18% of the time elapsed the project is almost starting.

The Master programme was presented but still lacks the detailed
construction programme.

The rain during the latest days put in risk the quality on the
foundations.

Solutions

The JBCC Contract must be given to IDT on 10-11-2010 to be

signed.

Extension of Practical Completion must be issued by the contractor

through a letter to PA, due to the delays during the setting out but t.
Even must be evaluated the cost implication.

The contractor should present a new strategy to recover the days

behind the schedule in the earthworks.

The construction programme with the detailed information about the

progress, block by block should be finished as soon as possible.

The contractor should take in consideration build temporary trenches

to help evacuate the rain water within the trenches, specifically by
the north-western zone.
