LIVING THINGS and THEIR ENVIRONMENT

FROM CELL TO ORGANISM

INTRODUCTION
Earth is sometimes called a living planet, and for good reason. Living things are found
everywhere, every corner of the globe above and below its surface, and deep within its seas. The
diversity of life is so great that you might have to remind us just how similar the different forms of life
really are. These diverse living things (organisms) like plants, animals and even the smallest diversity
of life the microorganisms, composed our biosphere.
In this manual, we are going to study the different kinds of living things and what they are
made of. It introduces us to the different structures that make up an organism, the cells that made up
the tissues which also make up organs. Which these organs work together to execute specific task
which formed an organ system.
Organ systems, which composes an organism, work together to help organisms to meet their
basic needs and to survive. The circulatory system which concerned with the reception of stimuli, the
transmission of nerve impulses, or the activation of muscle mechanisms. The urinary system which
produces and excretes urine from the body. How do you think do the other organ systems work
together? Do other organisms have organ systems, too?
The organs systems are made up of organs have related functions and are grouped together.
For example, the heart, blood vessels, and blood which make up the circulatory system. Are there
organisms that do not have organs?
This manual gives us clearer understanding about the different structures that make up
organisms. It strengthens also our skills and vocabulary because there are exercises and questions
which enhance our reasoning ability as well as our logical thinking.
