1. Describe your most significant accomplishment or examples of


initiatives that you are proud of. Please mention: an overview of the
accomplishment, your specific role, how long did it take to finish it.
Repositioning, retargeting and increasing the market share of Antena 1
(A1) in the position of Programming Manager reporting to Station
Manager. I was in charge with the schedule of A1 within a limited
budget, leading the team of scheduling, identifying weak spots,
proposing solutions, finding new formats from the international market
and adapt them to the local market & elaborating the business case. I
collaborated very close with the Sales & Marketing Department in
order
to
insure
proper
communication
of
these
gradual
transformations.
I was hired in April 2008, during of which the station increased from 9% to
14.5% Share of Market in 2013. Also the station changed the
programming/sales target from 18+ in 2008 to 15-54 in 2009 and finally to
18-49 in 2013 aligning with the practice of mainstream commercial stations
in Romania.
The process took about 6 years with several changes of top management on
the way.
Launching Kanal D in Romania, working very closely with the Turkish
team of Dogan Yalin Holding, starting 2006 as a consultant (before the
launch) and from 2007 in the position of Research & Scheduling
Manager reporting to General Manager.

For the same example - Please describe the environment and


culture. What decisions were made, the systems you used, how your
direct manager managed you and what you like and did not like.
The environment I have found in A1 in 2008 was rather conservative, with
long term employees (in the company for 10-15 years) which developed in
time strong personal relationships. The station was down trending but the
people were extremely reluctant to change, with passive-aggressive
attitude.
Most of the decisions regarding programming and strategy were approved in
the programming board which was held twice a week.
The management I have experienced was rather loose, with very little
feedback or guidance. My approach was to rely the decisions on prior
research and documentation.
I set up various share of market targets (time slots, shows, overall station)
and track them.

For the same example - What was the actual impact you made.
Please provide specific details. What recognition did you receive for
this major accomplishment?
I widen the use and understanding of research within the programming
department. Improved the collaboration/communication with other
departments such as sales, research, and marketing. Defined the targets &
benchmarks, defined clear reports. Evaluation of performance, scheduling
training & data explanation for my team. This leaded in time to a greater
understanding of the TV market dynamic.
From the professional point of view I was allowed to intervene both on
structure and content of the Antena 1 grid. Financially there were bonuses
based on performance.
2. Describe a situation in which you needed to influence different
stakeholders with differing perspectives. Pls. provide also an
example for a specific problem(s) that you encounter (e.g.: team
issue, meeting a tough schedule aso), that were the solutions and
the actual impact you made.
From the very beginning it was very clear to me that the station needed strong
horizontal frame in order to capture the audience. Therefore we start a morning,
access and late fringe shows The results were poor in the beginning and a lot of
voices demanded to cancel one or more of these shows. The sales team claimed
also a negative response from the advertising market, making their job very
difficult.
Based on the research numbers I have pointed the elements that highlighted the
potential of these slots. By clear and patient communication I have managed to
conciliate the divergent opinions.
Today the strip shows represent one of the main drivers of the station.

3. Please describe which do you consider to be your plusses and


your minuses referring to the responsibilities and requirements in
the Job Description you have received.
Pluses: more than 10 years of experience in television industry (research,
scheduling, management), a lot of local and international contacts, excellent
communication skills, good negotiator, problem solver, soft skills
Minuses: unfamiliar with the corporate culture, sometimes inpatient , perfectionist

4. What are your expectations from a new Employer in order for you
to perform at your highest potential? Please refer to non- financial
aspects, such as organizational culture, work environment, etc.
Clear frame of work with reasonable rules of conduct, open minded and

reliable team, I know from my experience I can be very flexible when it


comes with work environment but I prefer quiet clean places where
everybody have respect for each other.
