EPICURES STEAMER
(AKA THE 10 MINUTE MIRACLE MAKER)
Vitamin retention in microwaved foods is equal or better than in conventionally prepared foods because of the shorter heating time of
microwave cooking.
Steamed vegetables actually tend to retain more nutrients when microwaved.
Minerals are generally not destroyed during microwave cooking.
10-MINUTE FAJITAS
SOUVLAKI WRAPS
CHICKEN MARINARA
2 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 10 minutes
2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
2 tsp. Rosemary garlic seasoning or Herb & Garlic dip mix
One tomato (or part of a can of diced tomatoes)
1 tbsp. Marinara seasoning
Grated cheese (use either moz or cheddar with parmesan)
VEGETABLES
Spaghetti Squash 5 minutes Maple Bacon Sea Salt or any Sea Salt
SEAFOOD
POULTRY
12 Tbsp. (1530 ml) of your favourite blend, or try:
* Chicken Breast (boneless, skinless) 4 5 oz. (150g) portions 68
min Lemon Dilly Dip Mix, Taco Seasoning, Bruschetta Herbs
* chicken breasts in a zip lock bag with some Epicure chicken
bouillon, Epicure Greek seasoning and a little water and a little olive
oil and let them sit in the bag for about 5 min. Took them out of the
bag placed them in the steamer for 8 min and voila!
HOMEMADE POPCORN
Put 3 Tbsp. (45 ml) of popcorn kernels in large steamer, cook for about
3 minutes (listen for it to stop popping until you know your
microwave). No need for oil or butter but you can season with popcorn
seasonings once finished.
For a real popcorn treat, melt a small amount of butter in a pan, add a
spoonful of Epicures Hot Buttered Rum to it, mix together and pour
over popcorn. You will be in heaven!
CORN BREAD
It is incredibly moist and yummy.
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup corn meal
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons E.S. baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg, beaten
Combine dry ingredients. Stir in milk, oil and egg and mix just
until dry ingredients are moistened.
Pour batter into large steamer.
1. Place sliced apples in bottom square steamer and sprinkle on the 1/2
tsp. of Epicure's Apple Pie Spice.
2. Mix together cinnamon, flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, and margarine
(or butter) in a separate bowl until crumbly.
3. Spread over apples to cover.
4. Cover and put in microwave. Cook on high power for 8 minutes.
5. Serve warm with ice cream.
APPLE CRUMBLE
4 apples peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 tsp. Epicure's Apple Pie Spice
tsp. Epicures Cinnamon
2/3 cups flour
2/3 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup soft margarine (or butter)
Add in 1 egg, 1/2 cup milk, 1 cup flour and 2 teaspoons of Epicure's
cinnamon. Peel one apple and slice thinly (the ceramic slicer works
great for this!)
Place the sliced apples on the bottom of the steamer,
Spread the dough on top and microwave uncovered for 4 minutes.
Top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkling of the cinnamon
or gingerbread spice. Enjoy!
Combine 3/4 (or a little more) of the can of pop to the cake
mix.
Pour into steamer. Microwave for 9 minutes.
Meanwhile combine melted butter and icing sugar and mix. Slowly
add milk until you reach desired thickness. Add Summer Berry Mix
and stir until blended. Set aside (make ahead if possibly to allow
flavors to blend.) Remove cake from microwave and pop out of
steamer onto a plate. Allow 2-3 min. to slightly cool and then pour
glaze on top.
APPLESAUCE
Peel, core and dice 2 apples. Add 1 tsp. of cinnamon, gingerbread,
chai, or apple pie spice. Mix together in rectangular steamer. Cook on
high for 2 minutes. Voila home-made applesauce. You can make it
really creamy by putting it in your mini chopper for 30 seconds. Serve
warm or cold.
CHOCOLATE BARK
Melt a handful of Epicures dark chocolate in the steamer for one
minute. Place the steamer in the freezer for a minute, then sprinkle
maple bacon sea salt on top, place back in the freezer until frozen
(approx, 2 minutes) and break into pieces. Yummy!
FRUIT CRUMBLE
Core, skin and slice apples.
Mix with brown sugar, Epicure apple pie spice and Epicure Cinnamon.
Put into steamer. Mix rolled oats, butter, brown sugar, Epicures
Poudre Douce and flour. Sprinkle over apple mixture.
Heat for 5 minutes and top with vanilla ice cream, caramel drizzle, and
cinnamon sugar! Yumm!
In a bowl, stir flour with sugar, Summer Berry Dip Mix, baking
soda, salt, and Pure Cocoa, if you wish.
In another bowl, whisk eggs, then whisk in milk and oil.
Pour egg mixture over flour mixture and stir to mix.
Fold in bananas, blueberries, and nuts, if you wish.
LENTIL DAHL
1 cup of lentils (canned), drained and washed
to cup water, depends upon how thick you want
