Concert Promoter is in charge of putting together concerts, but also has many other duties. First
and foremost, the Promoter needs to find the money needed to promote a concert by either raising
money, or investing his or her own. Another way this can be done is to seek out others who will
share in the expenses and in return share some of the profits.

This career is for those who are willing to take financial risks. He or she must be energetic, have a
hard work-ethic, and have a high level enthusiasm in order to execute a successful event, or to
keep trying if one promotion has failed.

Booking agent
Booking agent works with the artist managers to guide them on the best venues, towns, and as
well helps with organising all the practical details, negotiating the best deals for the artists.
The agent is as well setting the prices of tickets.

A Booking Agent must possess sales ability as they are expected to sell a group or an Artist. They
must be aggressive, as much of the selling is done on the telephone or online. Successful Booking
Agents may stay on the phone pushing their acts for seven to eight hours a day.
As is the case with most jobs in the music industry, agents must be able to work under extreme
pressure. Clubs will call to negotiate booking an act for less money and even after everything is set
up, the group might cancel. All things considered, the Booking Agent must be able to keep his or
her composure under these conditions.

Tour manager
A band concert tour manager is the person who takes care of booking all the accommodation,
transport, equipment and crew involved with the tour. The tour manager will then travel with the
band on the road, dealing with all the day-to day problems as they arise. They also act as
accountant; producing budgets, picking up cash for performances and paying suppliers and other
expenses as the tour progresses.
Tour Managers have experience in one or more music industry careers before heading out with a
band. Skill-wise, they must be able to handle finances, stay on schedule and handle all kinds of
people with varying temperaments. The biggest challenge of this job is being on the tour for most
of the year.
