Generalized Inverse Aided PAPRAware Linear Precoder

Design for MIMO-OFDM System

ABSTRACT
We investigate an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based downlink
transmission scheme for large-scale multi-user (MU) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO)
wireless systems. The use of OFDM causes a high peakto- average (power) ratio (PAR), which
necessitates expensive and power-inefficient radio-frequency (RF) components at the base
station. In this paper, we present a novel downlink transmission scheme, which exploits the
massive degrees-of-freedom available in large-scale MU-MIMO-OFDM systems to achieve low
PAR. Specifically, we propose to jointly perform MU precoding, OFDM modulation, and PAR
reduction by solving a convex optimization problem. We develop a corresponding fast iterative
truncation algorithm (FITRA) and show numerical results to demonstrate tremendous PARreduction capabilities. The significantly reduced linearity requirements eventually enable the use
of low-cost RF components for the large-scale MU-MIMO-OFDM downlink.

Robust PAPR reduction for inverse aided liner Precoder for

MIMO-OFDM Multi users.

We propose a linear recoding scheme for a single user multiple-inputmultiple-output orthogonal

frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system to minimize peak to average power ratio
(PAPR) by using redundant spatial resources at the transmitter through a singular-valuedecomposition-based generalized inverse. The proposed preorder based on the generalized
inverse is composed of two parts. One is for minimizing PAPR, and the other is for obtaining the
multiplexing gain. Moreover, the proposed preorder contains a scalar parameter that quantifies
the received signal-to-noise power ratio (SNR) loss at the cost of PAPR reduction. Even in cases
of small SNR loss, the proposed scheme dramatically reduces PAPR. Furthermore, simulation
results show that we can obtain a PAPR close to 1 by using dozens of transmission antennas with
small SNR loss.

It consists of a sum of two matrices, one of which is made to MIMO precoding gain associated
with the cost factor , the other of which is designed to minimize PAPR by using redundant
spatial dimensions at the transmitter. When is close to 1, we could guarantee the effective data
rate while improving PAPR performance.
