January 7, 2015

Catholic Extension
A national fundraising organization founded in 1905, the Catholic Church Extension Society is
the leading supporter of Catholic missions in the United States. Catholic Extension serves the
pastoral mission of the Church by ensuring that the essential ministries of under-resourced and
isolated U.S. dioceses remain intact by helping these dioceses build their capacity for the
future.

Catholic Extension has distributed more than $500 million to build strong communities of faith
so that Catholics in these areas have the tools to inspire hope and ignite change. Activities and
programs supported include: subsidies for church leaders doing pastoral and social ministry;
support for college campus ministry and youth outreach; construction and renovation of
churches and facilities; and funding for the education of lay and ordained leaders. Each year,
Catholic Extension raises $25 million from 30,000 individual and foundation donors in order to
make its mission work possible. (For more information about Catholic Extension, please visit
www.catholicextension.org.)

Catholic Extension has a full-time staff of 40+ employees organized in teams (Development,
Mission, Parish Calendars, Finance and Strategic Communications) based at its headquarters in
Chicago, IL or in one of its five regional offices.

The Strategic Communications department works to advance the message and mission of
Catholic Extension to diverse audiences both committed donors and those who are new to
Catholic Extension. The Communications department strategically integrates marketing
initiatives, which include broadcast media, public relations, digital communications and
publishing, to strengthen its reputation, visibility, brand and message.
