Interview Information

Siemens recruiting process is structured with both Fall and Spring recruiting
efforts. Most of the recruiting occurs in the Fall (September to November), with
Spring events (January to March) designed to fulfill any remaining needs of the
programs. Siemens Industry conducts on-campus interviews at select schools for
each of our Internship and Entry Level Leadership Development Programs. Some of
the universities we target include Georgia Tech, Michigan State University, Penn
State University, Purdue University, University of Florida, Virginia
Tech, University of Georgia, Indiana University, Emory University, West Virginia
University and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Typically, Siemens
Industry recruits for its ELLDP participants in the fall for both December and
May graduates. In order to see when and if Siemens will be visiting your school,
please refer to our recruiting calendar.
Traditionally, Siemens will hold an information session the night before it
conducts on campus interviews. The information session gives the students a
chance to learn more about Siemens and meet Siemens personnel before the
interviews the next day.
After campus interviews, Siemens will select and invite students for second
round interviews at a Siemens facility. Following the second rounds interviews,
Siemens will make offers to students for full-time employment in the Entry Level
Leadership Development Programs. Once accepted into the program, participants
will join a class beginning every January and July. Available start dates for
each program are listed on the specific function page.

What to do before your interview:

Please arrive to the interview at least 15 minutes ahead of time.
Items that you should remember about your interview:
Attend the information sessions prior to your interview. Many of the
questions that you may have will be answered during these sessions and in most
cases you can meet your interviewer prior to your interview.
Please arrive to the interview at least 15 minutes ahead of time. There
will be greeters present to answer any remaining questions that you may have
about the interview process, your paperwork, the company, and general
recruiting questions.
Use your interview as an opportunity to ask questions which have not been
answered. Your interview with Siemens is also an opportunity for you to find
out if Siemens is a company that would be a good fit for you.
Interviews often flow much better when they are conversational. Your
interviewer will do their best to fully engage you, but you also have a

1) plc trouble shootings?

The programmable logic controller (PLC) is changing to
reflect the demands of sequencing and continuous processing
applications. The PLC can be thought of as a hardened
computer with high speed I/O and communications ports with
bus interfacing for multiprocessor or coprocessor
enhancements, and a BIOS that supports those features. PLC
manufacturers now retain control over both aspects of the
PLC which interoperate in a proprietary manner. Via the
delineation of the two may come a standard real time
operating system or real time kernel which would give rise
to true applications portability.

Or
Every manufacturer issues catalogs, O&M manuals with their
products or download them from their respective site. Just
go through them. They will clearly explain you the error
codes which are visible(flashing leds) in the PLC. From
them trouble shooting will be easy.

Regards
2) What is the role of P(Protional), I(Integral) and D
(Derivative) in PID Controller?
lets us describe the role of indivitual |P,|I,|D in |PID
controller....
|P(proportional)==to give one to one correspondence between
the error signal and manipulated signal. This give linearity
between the above two signal and thus bring output variable
to controlled value or set point.
|I(integral)==to remove the offset error.
|D(derivative)==to fasten the control action.

OR
P(proptional):To control the present difference between sp
and pv
I(integral): To control the past
D(derivative) :To control the futcher
OR
1.P(Proportional): to calculate the error signal (Error
signal means the difference between Process variable(PV)and
Setpoint.(E=SP-PV)-- Present(Howmuch)

2.I(Integral): to remove the offset error. It will decide

howlong the error exist in the cycle.(Iitegral time in RPM
or MPR)--Past(HowLong)
3.D(derivative): It will decide how fast the control action
to remove the error without any overshooting or
undershooting in the process for future cycle.
For practically we can say Howmuch(present), Howlong(Past),
Howfast(Future) respectively P,I,& D.

Qus : I have one absolute pressure transmitter for the range is

-400mmhg to 400mmhg. If i do the zero trim at atmosphere the

transmitter should be give 4ma or 12ma? which one is correct?

Your transmitter has a range of 800mmhg. The LRV is -400mmhg
and URV is +400mmhg. So at atmosphere you will get 12mA. all
the time, because atmosphere is Zero gauge pressure
(perfectly mid value in between the LRV and URV).
If you do zero trim at atmosphere, it will take "ZERO" with
the atmospheric pressure. The range of the transmitter will
not change. The range will remain 800mmhg. But your LRV will
change to 0mmhg and URV will change to +800mmhg. So in that
case, without any process connection it will give 4mA.

Question : what is the best method to measuring level in high pressure

and temperature thank?
In a tank with high Pressure and high temperature the best
suited liquid level measurement technique is using a DPT.
But in this case density compensation is a must. Because
with the increase of Temperature and pressure in a closed
tank, the density varies for every liquid.
For level measurement of solids in tanks with high pressure
and temperature the best way of level measurement is using a
ultrasonic level transmitter. Though in case of solids,

temperature and pressure does not hamper much in the readings.

Question : calculate the rane of level use of this values, h=3 meter
density=0.9 , whats the rang?
the density is wrong. It must be specific gravity 0.9.
range is specificgravity x hight in inches ( the answer is

in inches of water column)

the range varies from 0 to 300*0.9/2.54 " w.c
Question: what r all the type of vibration measurement measuring in
turbine? what's the output of vibration sensor?
proximeter type based on eddy current principal and its o/p
in milli volts.
The vibration sensors used in turbine, generator etc is all
same type i.e proximity type of sensors. The sensor is
mounted at the proximity of the Turbine and generator rotor.
From the sensors one coaxial cable runs to the proximiter,
which is mounted in a separate JB nearby. From TSI Monitors,
this Vibration probes gets +24 Volts DC. The proximeter
gives a signal 0 to -22.4 Volts DC depending upon the
vibration measured by the sensor. Generally the distance
between the probe tip and the rotor is maintained such that
it gives -10 Volts DC when the turbine is not running.
The sensor works on eddy current principle. As the rotor
vibration increases, the eddy current generation remains
contant, but the absorption of power in terms of eddy
current increase. This loss of power is sensed by the
proximeter and DC voltage signal is transmitter to TSI
monitor for Measurement, Controlling & Indication purpose.

Can transformer develop three phase power from a single

Question phase source?

no a transformer cant develop 3 phase power through a

Answer single source.because single pahse source con not

generate
#1
3 phase.

A transformer acn not develop three phase power from a

single
phase source.
deu to===========
01)-single phase has only one phase syquence.
02)-a three phase transformer has three phase primary
winding it need three phase rotating magnatic field that
can not achive bu a single phase source.
03)-if we will apply single phase source at three phase
transformers primary winding then only one primary coil
will exited for inducting so we can achive only single
phase power output.

Answer We can use 1 RTD for temperature detection. When

temperature change, resistance also changes in RTD. This

RTD input can be given to a PLC and from the output of the
