Chapter 3 Listo System
This case discusses the theories that Listo Systems is using to motivate
their employees. Theories Applied to Better Understand What is
Motivating Employees at Listo Systems
One of the theories that can be applied is from Herzberg MotivationHygiene Theory. It says that the people's un-satisfaction are related to job
environment, job content and the way they are treated. The management let
their employees feel they are valuable to the company. They are engaged
and think that the management are concerned about what they want. It
gives them the self worth and empowered. Because base on Herzberg
theory, if people feel good about their job, they are motivated that would
result to higher productivity. Another theory that can be applied to this case
is the Hawthorne studies because they involve the employees inputs for the
companys future. They felt that they are part of the team and the company
showed their concern to their employees.

Chapter 4: Listo System
This case discusses the 5 levels of leadership challenges that Listo
System is encountering. It will analyze what is the most appropriate response
they are having and the reason for that response.
Organizational Level 1: Key Players (Stakeholders) and Business
Ideas (Purpose). The Leadership Challenge That is Appropriate:
Establishing, Refining, or Monitoring
I would think that refining is Listo's challenge in the company. Their
vision and mission aims to be the leader in supplying quality graphic design
products with the use of state of the art technology, innovation, teamwork
and leadership. Because of the rapid expansion of the company, employees
and management were the most affected. New employees are less trained
and lack management and leadership skills. And because of the expansion,
refining the company is much needed to maintain the high standard of the
company.
Organizational Level 2: Entity (Culture) and Strategy (Mission).
Leadership Challenge That is Appropriate: Defining, Shaping, or
Publicizing
Shaping is the leadership challenge that the company is facing. Due to
the change and expansion in the management, employees have a hard time
to adapt to the new environment. So re-shaping the company to the change
will be the challenge of the company.

Organizational Level 3: Departments (Units) and Key Results
(Success Factors). ). Leadership Challenge That is Appropriate::
Involving, Facilitating, or Communicating
With the current scenario, communication is their challenge. They have
a lot of visions and missions for the company, but unfortunately they are
more focused on the production and the profit. The management is less
concerned about their employees opinions. And they even use a more
authoritative approach by just directing orders to the employees.

Organizational Level 4: Teams (Groups) and Goals (Objectives). ).


Leadership Challenge That is Appropriate: Focusing, Unifying, or
Connecting
Unifying is the challenge of Listo Systems. Because of their current
challenges they are facing due to the expansion of the company, unifying the
teams with the goals of the company is their challenge. Employees will still
be working and doing what they are told to do but to align their goals or
objectives with the employees is becoming more unclear.
Organizational Level 5: Individuals (People) and Tasks (Jobs).
Leadership Challenge That is Appropriate: Enabling, Engaging, or
Empowering
Empowering is the challenge they are having. The company has been
just concerned about expanding and improving their state of the art
technologies, but they didnt give the proper training and exposure to the

employees for them to grow in the company. They are just concerned on the
productivity side but didnt notice that employees have a direct relation with
the productivity of the company.
