Network and PC Systems Consultant

Providing quality network and pc support and solutions for business and home users. Services include
systems repair, network installation, domain administration, web design/hosting, email services,
training for MS operating systems and office applications, backup and data recovery, custom built
systems, remote support and troubleshooting.

Setup and managed MS domains including Server 2000/2003/SBS, file servers, NAS, domain
controllers, dhcp servers, dns, exchange 2003, .net servers, share point servers, web servers, active
directory, terminal services, backup services, domain name management and software licensing
management. Provided remote access and remote support via VPN and terminal services.

The role of Tech-2 PC was to resolve initial issues then analyze the clients infrastructure and provide a
technology plan and budget to better manage their IT requirements and meet the needs of the future.
Technology plans were then implemented without impact on the customer usually in the following
progression: Network cabling installs, switches/router upgrades, server installs/upgrades, securities,
workstations installs/upgrades, customer training, customer software setup/programming and
documentation.

Customer projects were managed via custom MS Access database/Visual Basic providing a real time
customer request process.

Valdez Hospital - Providence, Valdez, AK Feb 2003 - May 2006


IT Support Specialist/Network Administration

Installed network infrastructure. Setup and installed 42 workstations. Maintained server backups.
Managed HIPA compliance Provided hardware and software support on a daily basis. Managed 2 MS
domain controllers, 2 backup servers, dns, active directory, user accounts, email accounts, and server
backups. Performed workstation imaging, setup/installs and user support/training.

Prince William Sound Community College, Valdez, AK Sep 2001 - May 2006
IT Manager/Technician/Title III Grant Coordinator/Adjunct Faculty

This was a multi-function position. Primarily Information Technologies manager/technician for a small
Alaska college with two satellite campuses. Secondary functions included teaching computer
hardware/applications courses and coordination of Title III technology projects.

• Designed/procured/installed and operated state of the art infrastructure which included 3


campuses and 1 remote village. Installed cat 5e plus fiber backbone networks utilizing 3Com
Superstack switches, Instagate Firewalls/VPN and packet management. Baseline workstation
build was defined and implemented via Ghost imaging. MS 2003 domain servers were
installed providing dns/active directory/dhcp/wins, file,web and print services. Installed MS
Exchange 2-2003 servers. Setup PWSCC.EDU domain. The video conference network was
installed and later merged with domain traffic for remote support and automated connections.
Setup 5 computer labs and smart classrooms.
• Setup and maintained Microsoft domain supporting 65 employees, 3000+ students, 280
workstations, 12 servers (DC/DNS/Web/Exchange/File serving/Remote access/NAS).

• Provided student, employee and faculty training on pc applications and use of smart teaching
technologies. Technologies included Polycom video conferencing equipment, Smartboard 3000
communicating via H323 tcp/ip, and remote PC teaching. Video conferences courses included
20 connections per day for an average of 80 hours communication per week.

• Provided grant coordination for federal grant Title III. The primary purpose of this role was to
evaluate the grant purposes/requirements, propose technology plans for funding, implement
technology upgrades and project reporting.

• Help desk function. Provided staff and student support 24/7. Provided support for all office
and specialized software, email issues, and hardware issues.

• Instructed MS Office, Windows XP and A+ Certification-hardware/operating systems. Worked


with the local high school and instructed a dual credit high school course for A+.

• Provided technical equipment setup, operation and support for community events and K12
schools.

• Developed and presented Power Point Presentations to College Counsel meetings.
