MSBA ADMISSION INFORMATION

INTRODUCTION TO VU
The Virtual University has been established by the Government of Pakistan
and is recognized by HEC. As such, its degrees are recognized nationally as

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR PAKISTANI NATIONAL:

Admissions for session spring 2015 may open

in February/March 2015 then you can obtain
admission application form from VU website www.vu.edu.pk and apply for
admission (subject to eligibility criteria) by submitting filled admission
form with requisite documents(according to the document check list page
of the admission form) including fee paid challan/Demand Draft (in
original) to the nearest Virtual Campus or by mailing at Registrars Office
(Admissions), Virtual University of Pakistan M.A. Jinnah Campus, Defence
Road, Off Raiwind Road, Lahore.Tel: 111- 880 -880-Ext 344
.
Time required for admission process
After the result if VU entry test, it is processed normally within seven
working days As the admission form is processed the candidate is
intimated firstly through an email (if provided in admission application
form). With copy to his/her campus (incase campus based student) and
finally, by mailing a hard copy admission offer letter and VU information
material at his/her mailing address. A list of admitted candidates is also
published and updated during admission session at VU website
www.vu.edu.pk under admission link. Incase of any query, applicant may
mail at the email address published at bottom of admission form.

ADMISSION OF FOREIGN/DUAL NATIONAL CANDIDATES:

I. Admission of Foreign/Dual National (Residing within Pakistan):
Foreign/Dual Nationality holder candidates residing in Pakistan
(provided can understand Pakistans National Language Urdu) and
intend to study within Pakistan have to follow prescribed procedure
of Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. Such candidates are
required to submit following documents to the Admission Office,
Virtual University of Pakistan, M.A. Jinnah Campus, Defence Road off
Raiwind Road, Lahore, Pakistan:
Filled out original admission application form and its one photocopy.
Five duly filled out and signed copies of HEC student information
sheet
Two attested copies of Visa and Passport
Two attested copies of Proof of Nationality
Five attested copies of Afghan Refugee Card (if applicable)

Upon receipt of above-mentioned documents and after due verification it is
forwarded to the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC) and the
concerned agencies for their approval. Thereafter candidate is intimated
about admission.
II. Admission of Foreign/Dual National (Residing Abroad):
Foreign/Dual Nationality holder candidate residing abroad allowed to
study with Virtual University of Pakistan (provided can understand
Pakistans National Language Urdu) is required to provide following
documents along with their admission application form; complete in
all respect, to the University.
One attested copy of Proof of Nationality
Declaration that he /she will not demand any letter from the
University for the Issuance of Pakistan visa. However, during visit to
Pakistan, if any he/she will appear for examination in the university
designated exam center only.

MS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION / MASTER OF BUSINESS

ADMINISTRATION (EQUIVALENT TO MS)
The Faculty of Management offers MSBA/ MBA/ (1.5-year / 3-semesters)
program leading to Ph.D degree in Business Administration. The program
has been designed for candidates who intend to pursue their professional
career as teaching faculty member in an educational institution or serve
the industry at senior management position. The program provides
opportunities to learn special business techniques required to excel in the
challenging and rapidly changing world. The students will have an option
to select any one of the areas of specialization offered that is Banking,
Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Technology,
Management, and Marketing.
Admission eligibility criteria:
Candidates having 16-year education [BS in Business Administration, BS in
Commerce, BBA (Accounting & Finance), BBA (Banking & Finance), BS
(Accounting & Finance), BS (Banking & Finance), BBA(IT/MIS), BS
(Management), BS (Marketing), MBA (Accounting & Finance), MBA
(Banking & Finance), MBA (IT/MIS), Old MBA, MBS, M.Com, ACMA, ACA, and
VU graduates holding BS (Public Administration), Master of Accounting,
Master of Finance, Master of Accounting & Finance, Master of Banking &
Finance and MBA-Executive (72-Cr. Hrs.)] degrees and other relevant
equivalent qualification with at least Cumulative Grade Point Average
(CGPA) 2.50 out of 4 / 1st division, wherein GPA system is not
implemented, are eligible to apply. However, the candidates will also be
required to qualify VU Entry Test (with minimum 50% marks).
Note: Candidate holding MPA, BBA(ITM), BBIT, MBA(ITM) etc. may be
considered for admission through Deficiency Semesters, as prescribed by
the University, however, candidates having studied common deficiency
course(s) will be considered for course exemptions on case to case basis.
In case of other relevant qualification, candidates may be required to
provide equivalence letter/certificate from Higher Education Commission.

Award of Degree:
MBA-Master of Business Administration (1.5-year / 3-semester) degree
(Equivalent to MS):
Candidates are required to complete prescribed course work (at least 37credit hours) by attending minimum 3-semesters with at least CGPA 2.50
out of 4.
Note: Research Thesis will not be offered to students taking MBA track.
MSBA-Master of Science in Business Administration (1.5-year / 3-semester)
degree:
Candidates are required to complete prescribed course work (at least 31credit hours) plus Research Thesis (6-credit hours) by attending minimum
3-semesters with at least CGPA 2.50 out of 4.

The scheme of studies for MBA (equivalent to MS) / MSBA programs are
outlined as under. The courses may be revised time to time as a result of
continuous review to bring them at par with courses from being taught at
top-class foreign universities. While reviewing the courses needs of local

A student must qualify at least four courses from an area of selected
specialization. However, Graduates of Virtual University of Pakistan having
specialization in their previous degree program will not be allowed to
select the same area of specialization. Following are the areas

Research Thesis:
In order to enroll for research thesis for MSBA degree, students must have
achieved at least CGPA 3.25 out of 4 upon completion of 2nd semesters
courses comprising 24 credit hours course work.
2. MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (EQUIVALENT TO MS)/ MS
IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM FOR CANDIDATES WITH
NON-BUSINESS EDUCATION

The candidates with 16-year non-business education [BE, MBBS, MA, M.Sc.,
and other equivalent qualifications from a recognized
university/institution] with at least Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
2.50 out of 4 / 1st division, wherein GPA system is not implemented, are
eligible to apply. Thereafter there will be required to qualify at least 36
credit hours of deficiency business courses before they could become
eligible for admission towards MBA (equivalent to MS)/MS in Business
Administration program.
NOTE: After completion of prescribed deficiency courses (2-semesters)
with at least CGPA 2.00 out of 4, candidates would be eligible to apply for
award of Postgraduate Diploma in Business Studies against the payment of
prescribed diploma fee. However, Candidates intend to continue
MBA/MSBA would be required to maintain CGPA 2.00 out of 4 upon
completion of prescribed deficiency courses and will be required to qualify
GAT General Test (with minimum 50% marks).

Assessment of Study Progress:

The evaluation of students study progress for deficiency courses is based
on continuous assessment throughout the semester by giving
assignments, on-line quizzes, Graded Discussion Boards, mid-term and
final-term examinations. The mid-term and final-term exams are conducted
at VUs designated exam centers and usually count 80 to 85% of the total
marks of a course.
Continuation to MBA (equivalent to MS)/MS in Business Administration
Program:
Candidates intend to continue to MBA/MSBA program would be required to
maintain CGPA 2.00 out of 4 upon completion of prescribed deficiency
courses and will be required to qualify GAT General Test (with minimum
50% marks).
Award of Degree:
