RE: - Submission of Data to Credit Information Bureau (INDIA) Ltd (CIBIL) Updation
of Records in ASCROM System.
You may already be aware that the Credit Information Companies (Regulation) Act, 2005
requires a credit institution to take appropriate and necessary steps to ensure that the
data related to credit information maintained by them is accurate, complete and updated and
to ensure the accuracy and completeness thereof while furnishing the same to a credit
information company.
It also requires that the credit information maintained by us is updated regularly at
least on a monthly basis and we take all such steps which may be necessary to ensure that
credit information furnished by us is updated, accurate and complete.
In our Bank we are using the ASCROM system to furnish the relevant data to Credit
Information Bureau (INDIA) Limited in the format received from them since June
2007.However, the progress of submission of records to the CIBIL has not been up to the
mark and it has become an area of concern for the bank. Despite follow-up with the
branches the data submitted is not only incomplete but also its quality is poor resulting into
high rejection rate. The rejection rate on records submitted is over 18.11 % on Consumer
(Retail) and 8% on commercial reporting. The major reject reasons were found as detailed
below:
Reject Reason
Name Segment _ Single consumer name
Action Required
Full Name of the Borrower to be submitted (For
e.g. : First name, Middle Name and Last name )
Single name is not accepted by CIBIL.
You will appreciate that the submission of relevant record to CIBIL on our borrower is
not only a mandatory requirement but it also helps in bringing credit discipline thereby
improving the overall health of credit portfolio. Furthermore, the enactment of Credit
Information Companies (Regulation) Act 2005 will again bring into the sharp focus our ability
to submit timely and accurate data to CIBIL.
Therefore, all the branches are advised to ensure that they complete CIBIL data
updation for all eligible live NPA borrowal accounts during the current month and for all
other borrowal accounts before 31st December 2009 without fail.
The list of customers whose record have not been completed/ submitted to CIBIL
can be obtained by navigating through CIBIL Updation Status Report CIBIL Data
Status Select Branch Select Non Exported Customer Select Consumer/ Commercial
and click O K.
For non exported NPA accounts a new report in version 7.1.3 has been provided under
monthly updation - CIBIL updation NPA validation report.
After printing the list branches can update the CIBIL data for these records. While
updating the data please note that for submitting the CIBIL data it is compulsory that field
CIBIL Consent obtained is tick marked.
The records for which consent has not been
obtained are to be left as it is. The system exports the data for submission to CIBIL for
the records where field CIBIL Consent obtained is tick marked.
For any clarification\difficulty encountered, if any, in keying in data branches may
contact their Regional Office.
Yours faithfully,
(R.K.Bansal)
