Unemployment of fresh graduate in Malaysia

In the 21st century, it has been a growing worry about the role of high education
institution and how well they can satisfying the employer's needs. In recent year,
unemployed of fresh graduate among 21-25 year olds is becoming increasingly
serious in Malaysia and major concerns nowadays. Every year, many students have
graduated from universities of higher learning either in private or public universities.
As high competition for jobs, it causing high unemployment in Malaysia.
In additional, the job market and the needs for labor market for fresh graduate are
differently in comparison to ten years ago for higher education institutions. Labor
market is now less predictable and changing more rapidly and more competitive. As a
result, fresh graduate are facing difficulties in finding jobs. Additional, employer will
find the employee who had a lot of experienced one compare to the one who without
experience. Lack of skills and experience are the issues that causes of fresh graduate
unemployment. Generally, most of the organization are prefer to employ graduates
those with experience. Fresh graduate without experience are difficult to compete the
working environment and social life they may face to them every moment. The
working environment nows are requires fresh graduate to have some working
experience which to meet the requirement of graduation in order ensure that
employers are sustain to their economic competitiveness. In labor market nowadays,
fresh graduates not only to compete among themselves, but also need to compete with
others less educated candidates with years of working experiences. As a result, the
chance for employ fresh graduate is becoming a growing problem.
In additional, unrealistic expectation of salary and poor communication skills in
English also the issue that unemployment of fresh graduate. A survey which conduct
by online recruitment agency Job-street showed that around 50% of employers
commend unrealistic expectations of salaries of fresh graduate while around 48% of
them said poor in English was the reason why Malaysian fresh graduates from both
private and public universities remain unemployed. As employer's unwilling to offer
the level of expectation salary from fresh graduate, it cause fresh graduate give up to
work with those employer which given salary lower their expectation. Additionally,

employers are looking for fresh graduate who with soft skills. Soft skills is the nontechnical skills such as management, communicate well in English, leadership and
interpersonal skills, but fresh graduate from Malaysian both private and public
universities seem to be lacking in this areas.
Unemployment of fresh graduate in Malaysia has becoming a serious condition. A lot
of job competition every year causing high unemployment of fresh graduate which
from universities of higher education either private or public universities. Therefore,
government should take action to particular problem in this competition. Government
need to establish career seminar in order to create awareness to them the job available
in Malaysia, For example, create awareness fro fresh graduate which they can enter to
new areas such as agricultural sector, small, and medium sectors from entering new
areas, it is not only can reduced unemployment rate for fresh graduate and also can
improve the economy of Malaysia by exporting our agricultural product.
