societal participation and inclusion. In order to promote digital literacy and as a role model the

literacy of the broad public. WERDEDIGITAL.at shows the advantages of digital media, points to
risks and gives advice about online safety.
Handbook Working Online (Leitfaden Das neue Arbeiten im Netz)
In January 2015 WERDEDIGITAL.at published its first eBook. This collaborative publication
contains 70 articles on different topics for people who work with the Internet. The guide is aimed
at people who are already online and want to deepen their knowledge. The focus is on the rapid
change people are facing at their workplaces due to the constantly rising importance of the net.
Nevertheless many contributions are intended to be useful in other contexts as well. One will
find chapters about collaboration, publishing, and networking. Furthermore emerging issues
around online education e.g. MOOCs and OER are prominent topics.
The online world holds dangers and risks. Everything new might frighten us. But the online
world has such great potential to improve our lives professionally and personally. This guide is
designed to encourage the reader to explore new online tools and to familiarise with the
changing practices at the workplace.
The publication and all other activities of WERDEDIGITAL.at in 2014 were made possible with
the financial support of the Austrian Federal Chancellery.

to help every European become digital.
They are all creative and motivated people who lead innovative projects in ICT education, digital

Many actively promote the development of digital skills and entrepreneurship by young people,
helping tackle youth unemployment by sharing innovative ideas which have worked in their own
country.
