Delta Marine Consultants

Delta Marine Consultants

Delta Marine Consultants (DMC), is an innovative Dutch Engineering Consultancy founded in 1978. Operating as an independent
consultant, DMC has extensive experience in all project phases. From pre-investment advice, developing concepts, producing
preliminary to detailed designs, assisting in preparation of the tender process, to providing advice during the maintenance phase,
DMC is capable to support and guide the client throughout the implementation and operation process. DMC is both able to lead or
to form part of a multi-disciplinary team for a particular project.
DMC has recently been rebranded into BAM Infraconsult and is working under that name in the home market. DMC is still used as a
trade name for international projects and referred to as such in this Company Profile.
Due to its strong links with parent company Royal BAM Group, one of the largest European construction companies, DMC is embedded in
the construction industry. DMC offers practical design solutions, blending innovation and feasibility to the optimal benefit of the client.
DMC is a registered consultant with the major world funding organizations and with many bilateral aid organizations. Current clients
include governments, port authorities, industrial companies, contractors and private customers. Many DMC engineers serve on
councils and committees of professional organizations for research and technical advice to governments, both in the Netherlands
and internationally.
Through a policy of involving local firms in overseas projects, valuable working relationships with companies in various countries
around the world have been built up. The reliable cooperation and the acquired mutual confidence significantly assist in the efficient
communication and smooth execution of projects abroad.

Organisation and Structure

The firm comprises a total of approximately 320 personnel, many of whom have been with the company for more than ten years. The
range of skills includes civil, structural, coastal and geotechnical engineering together with other specialist groups and CAD drafting
team.
About 60% of the DMC staff is closely connected to the disciplines of maritime structures and coastal engineering. The mix of young,
excellently educated engineers and specialists enables a fresh and dedicated approach towards challenging tasks.
DMC demands and encourages regular education and advanced trainings including internal and external seminars with focus on
engineering sciences and management skills. The company utilizes the latest professional design and modelling packages and
develops its own special in-house software for design and engineering applications.

Overseas Activities
DMC holds overseas offices strategically located in Singapore, Jakarta, Dubai and Perth. The branches ensure direct
customer liaison and provide support to the various project teams operating in the regions. The branches work closely
together with the head offices in Gouda, The Netherlands. All DMC branches handle the same administrative procedures and
technical standards which provide the basis for efficient communication and expert discussions throughout the company.
Project teams are often formed by staff from different DMC branches to optimally serve the clients needs. DMC organizes
regular work visits of staff from branches to the head office to further align design methods, to follow internal trainings
and to steadily enhance the teamwork. Where vital, head office specialists are delegated to site to support the projects.

2D, 3D and Building Information Modelling (BIM)

Drawings and visualizations are essential to communicate a design to all stakeholders. The design & drafting industry has developed
rapidly in the past few years and a swift and seamless transfer of data through all stages of the design and construction process has
become more and more important.
Currently 3D visualizations are fully integrated in the design process, which offers the possibility to communicate easily with clients
and contractors. 3D models provide substantial information about construction elements, such as volumes and other properties per
object.
Whilst the actual models are set up in 3D, the design documents can be delivered as 2D drawings, which are generated fully automated
reducing the risk for mistakes especially at design interfaces. This documentation can be developed in a format that is compatible
with other design software.
A 3D model has strong advantages as a visualization tool for complex structures, but also contributes in identifying potential clashes.
DMC uses BIM (Building Information Model) techniques to make use of the information that can be related to the objects in the 3D
models. Linking 3D models to time schedules, costing models, in and out surveys (including point cloud laser techniques), WBS and
requirements databases, etc. is current practice. For compatibility coding platforms such as IFC are being used as well as regulations
like BS1192. Virtual construction techniques based on 3D models have been implemented in many projects.
DMC has several software suites available for 3D modelling, such as MX, Civil 3D, ADT, Revit, Navisworks, Vico, Allplan and Viz.

Safety by Design
Safety is high on the priority list of DMC. Safety should play a role in all the activities performed by the organization. Particularly in
the field of design and implementation, knowledge, awareness and behavior in relation to safety is important!
The starting point for safety within DMC is to minimize the safety risks during the construction, use and maintenance and demolition
of an object.
DMC can contribute during the design by considering the safety risks for implementation during operation and maintenance of the
property,
