The month of February brings with it

the beginning of the Lenten Season.

Often times, Lent is understood as a

time of denying yourself something for
spiritual purposes.
How about, rather than denying
yourself some things, adding some things
to your spiritual life!

Our gatherings for the Worship of God

In 1979 the Worship Committee asked Bea

Welch, a life-long member of Hill Church, to make
the communion bread. The late Virginia Lytle, a
former member, got the recipe from a Butler bakery
that closed. Bea rolls out the dough on poster board
that she has marked off in 5/8 inch squares. Three
years ago Bea recruited Kerry McElhaney to make
the bread during the winter, from December through

GHANA MISSION TASK FORCE REPORT

On January 14th, we received an 11 x 16 photograph of the District Pastor and
the Presbyters(Elders) of the Bubiashie congregation. Please take a look at the
faces and appreciate the beautiful colors and patterns of their clothing. Their
names are listed on the back of the photograph.
Bernard Daddy commented in an e-mail that no Christmas cards were sent and this picture would be
the greeting. The scholarship grants have been awarded. He hopes to send us some pictures.
McWilson Atakro has a birthday on February 2nd. Send him an e-mail with good wishes. His address
is: mkatakro1@yahoo.com
Please continue to keep the Bubiashie District churches, Bernard Daddy, chairperson of the Bubiashie
Scholarship Committee, as well as the students, and Joshua Heikkila, the West Africa Liaison for the
PC(USA), in your prayers. Also continue to pray for resolution to the Ebola health crisis in West
Africa and for an end to the barbaric and unceasing terrorism by Boko Haram against the citizens of
Nigeria.
James Ihlenfeld for the Ghana Mission Task Force

Every year Hill Church is asked to support the work of the Beaver-Butler Presbytery,
the Synod of the Trinity and the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA.
This support is made through a per-capita assessment of church members. This
assessment has been used for over 150 years to fund the essential work of the
Presbyterian Church.
As we have done in past years, we are inviting members to the Hill Church family of
faith to contribute to the support of the shared work of the Presbyterian Church USA.
The per-capita assessment for 2015 is $39.93 per member which includes all those
who have been baptized and have made their profession of faith. For example, a single
member would contribute $39.93, a couple who are both members would contribute
$79.86, a couple with one confirmed child would contribute $119.79 and so on.
For your convenience in making this offering, a special blue envelope has been
included in your regular box of envelopes, appearing between
the January 25th and the February 1st envelopes. Or you may
mark the memo line of your check per-capita and this offering
will be properly credited to your giving statement.
Thank you for your continued generosity and support.
