The definition of social media is the relationship that

have become very smart because of the information they get from
this sites, why some have become very poor academically, because
it easy to get almost any materials for school assignment.

The driving factors for adoption of social media are the


progressively ubiquitous access, convenience, functionality, and
flexibility of social technologies. It has been contended that

study efficiency despite of these social networks that would have
or dont have effect on college students.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM


To

address

the

issue

of

the

effectiveness

of

using

social

network the first question raised in this study is 1. For what


purpose is the student utilizing social network? 2. Does social
networking have negative effects on the school performance of college
students?

3.

How

can

college

students

help

themselves

to

have

balance in terms of time management between academic and spending time


with social networking?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY


The objective of this research is to explore the advantages and
disadvantages of students use of social networking for study. The
main

purpose

of

this

research

is

to

expand

on

previous

research,

explore the relationship between the effects of social networking and

students

study

efficiency,

and

to

determine

if

social

media

interfering with students academic lives.


SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
This paper focused on the increasing issues of advantage and
disadvantage of using social networking among college students. Thus,
this paper is engrossed on college students the, age, gender or school
and courses they enrolled in. It also aims to identify the effects of
social networking on their performance on the academic which it is
limited only to college students, how they spend their time with those
sites and merely the dependent users of social networking as means of
their daily needs in their daily activities.
