Hello!
Every summer in America, large numbers of children attend summer camps
where they can relax, learn new activities, and make friends from around the
United States and around the world.

Increasingly, American summer camps are opening their doors to children

from many countries, including China. This guide lists camps that have
welcomed Chinese kids in the past or would be eager to in the future.

The guide is written by Malia Cashel, an American student who attends

summer camps in America, and also lived previously in Chengdu, China.

There are thousands of summer camps in America. Some have been running
for over a century. This guide highlights camps which responded to a survey
about programs for Chinese kids. A full list of camps in America can be

Birchmont
Birchmont is a traditional sports camp for boys and girls with an emphasis on
swimming, water sports and tennis. We have all of the traditional field & court
sports, performing and creative arts, horseback riding, mountain biking, a great
trip program and much more.

Camp Blue Ridge

Blue Ridge Camp is a family operated, activity-oriented, camp for boys and
girls. We are located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Our 250-acre site is
excellent, offering athletics, aquatics, outdoor adventure and arts facilities. With
12 indoor facilities, our activities continue rain or shine. At the end of each interval,
a camper may elect to specialize in some of the activities already attempted or
choose an entirely new schedule. Our highly trained staff will assist each camper in
making his/her selections. Our staff comes from a variety of colleges nationwide,
as well as a few from other countries. Each staff member has experience in youth

Camp Chateaugay
Camp Chateaugay is a traditional camp for boys and girls with 3.5 or 7 week
programs. We have an amazing geographic mix of kids, with mature, experienced
staff, providing a nurturing and safe environment for our campers. Children choose
part of their schedule and have a wide variety to select from, including land sports,
creative arts, water sports, riding, cooking, animal care, nature, climbing, ropes

Camp Chippewa
At Camp Chippewa, boys capture the wonder of boyhood through the many daily
adventures offered by our wilderness environment. A limited enrollment of just 75
boys ensures individual attention for each boy and personal, hands-on interaction
among campers and counselors. Camp activities promote individual achievement
and skill development, while instilling a joy of life-long activities and reverence for
our wilderness surroundings. The many returning counselors and staff demonstrate
a loyalty to the program and provide a continuity in the activities which fosters
expertise and mastery.

Camp Pemigewassett
Camp Pemigewassett (Pemi for short) is a traditional, sleepaway summer camp

Red Pine Camp for Girls

Red Pine Camp is a traditional residential summer camp in Wisconsins North
Woods for girls ages 7-16. Serving 120 girls, campers may join us for the entire
8-week summer season or choose from one of our 4-week sessions. Red Pine also
