In this brochure you will find information on our family programs for
WinteR/SPRinG 2015.
For more than 20 years, Rutgers Community Programs has been a place for
families to grow together. We offer a relaxed, fun environment where children can
play, create, express themselves and explore, and parents can find friendship and
resources to guide them through all stages of parenthood.
Early childhood education experts point to several areas of development that help
prepare children for school success. At Rutgers, all domains of learningphysical,
social and emotional, cognitive and creative expressionare nurtured in an
interrelated, child-centered approach.
our programs are designed to be with you and your family from very start, with
free parenting and education workshops and family-only playgroups; as well as classes in art, movement, dance and Chinese
language and culture, all developmentally appropriate for children as they
grow from infancy to elementary-school age.
our classes for preschoolers include On My Own playgroups, a gentle separation program for children 2-3 years of age. older, independent preschoolers (2.9-5
years) can join our Ready, Set, Go! play and enrichment program, dedicated to
growth, discovery, and creativity through a variety of hands-on learning activities.
Rutgers offers your family a warm, inclusive community. our instructors have
been here for many years, and support each other through team teaching and
collaboration. our facilities include an art studio, a gym, an auditorium with stage,
and beautiful classrooms for On My Own and Ready, Set, Go! Rutgers is a
safe and supportive place, conveniently located at the corner of 73rd and broadway.

These unique groups offer parents and children the opportunity to
enjoy playing together in a fun-filled environment outside the home (no nannies
or babysitters attend, but grandparents are most welcome!) Each 90-minute session includes circle time, art, active play in our indoor playground with
balls, hoops, a slide, and plastic cars, story time and more.
This program is a great first classroom experience for toddlers, and provides a warm sense
of community for parents as well. Families enrolled in these groups get priority registration
in our On My Own program for children ages 2-3 years.

Young preschoolers aged 2-3 get a gentle transition to drop-off in our nurturing On My Own playgroups. We work with children based on their readiness and needs, with the ultimate goal of enabling children to feel
comfortable and confident on my own. These playgroups combine adult-directed activities as well as child-led imaginative play. We offer hands-on activities in our learning centers for children to explore at their own pace, as
well as circle time, art projects, stories, and active play.
We help children learn important social skills: using words to express
their feelings or needs, taking turns, and more. Families are welcome
to enroll their children 1, 2 or 3 days a week per semester. Each session is 2 hours long. Families provide a snack/lunch (no nuts allowed).
Families enrolled in on My own get priority registration for Ready, Set,
