codes of practice and where to access further
information and advice.

To provide those staff responsible for health and safety


the skills, information and knowledge to enable them to
manage health and safety effectively. Subjects areas
included in this course are risk assessments, premises
maintenance, manual handling, electrical safety, first
aid, lone working, VDUs, accident investigation,
COSHH assessments and induction training.
To provide staff with a broad understanding of
occupational health and safety and the implications for
the University. To enable staff to undertake their role as
a School/Departmental Safety Coordinator in a
low/medium risk environment.
