Projects
1. A Chess game applet developed for ESC201 course in 2005
- A simple chess game AI which takes 1 move into consideration
2. A snake game applet for the same course
- An applet based on the snake game of mobile phones.
3. AI project As part of Artificial intelligence course. Analysis of AI of real time strategy
games and how they can adapt. This involved an AI script for the game AOEII age of
Kings. This analyzed the various units that a player can make and chose the best ones
based on some parameters , which would change as the game 'learned' about how good t
hose choice was based on a feedback mechanism.
4. SURF project Asteroid detection using data from Palomar Quest sky survey. Done
under SURF ( Students Undergraduate Research Fellowship ) at California institute of t
echnology ( Caltech ). Mentor: George Djorgovski , Co-Mentor: Ashish Mahabal.
The project involved identifying 'tracklets' and 'tracks' of moving objects in the images taken
by the Palomar Quest camera and then checking if they were part of an orbit, and comparing
them with asteroids that are already known. Done during Summer 2008
5 . B.Tech project- Speech recognition. Building a platform for the recognition of Indian
languages using HTK toolkit. ( Currently in progress ).
My project uses the HTK toolkit to build a speech recognizer. This is based on HMM
( Hidden Markov model ). The broad idea is to create a platform on which speech
recognizers for various purposes can be easily built. Currently for every new system, eg.
recognizing digits for telephone numbers, train names for railways etc. the model is made
from scratch. My project attempts to automate this. A lot of work has been done in this
area for English but not for Indian languages.
