Operation ETS

Electrical pulses controls the activation

of the AST stepper motor.

The direction of the rotation of the

spindle depends on the phase
relationship of the power pulses.

The rotation of the spindle is

transformed into linear motion.

Operation - ETS 6

Electrical pulses change the polarities

of the coil.

The coil rotates the magnet rotor of

the valve in a stepwise fashion.

The valve has a screw structure and

the needle valve assembled with the
rotor moves linearly with the rotation.

Flow Characteristics
Capacity is based on: R407C, to = 5C, tc = 32C, tl = 28C
Valve characteristics are optimized for part load conditions.

Operation Function of Sight Glass & Indicator

ETS 50, 100, 250 and 400 are

integrated with sight glass with
moisture indicator.

determine physical position of the

piston in the valve.

shows the flow direction of the

refrigerant in the system (ETS 50,100)

Insufficient sub cooling can produce

flash gas which is visible through sight
glass.

Moisture indicator indicates dry or wet

state of the refrigerant by changing its
colour.

ETS 250 & ETS 400 Balancing Principle

Benefits:
Valve require no holding current.
piston remains in same position on power cut off
ETS 50 and 100 are balanced designs as well

Adaptive Superheat Regulation

Adaptive superheat

Regulation is here based on the

evaporators load by means of MSS
search (MSS = lowest permissable
superheat).
With MSS search, the superheat
reference is lowered to the exact point
where instability sets in.
The superheat is limited by the settings
for min. and max. Superheat.

Load-defined superheat regulation

In addition to adaptive superheat, EKC 316A features Load-defined superheat
control as well.

The reference follows a defined curve.

Load-defined superheat

This curve is defined by three values:

the closing value,
the min.value
the max. value.
These three values must be selected in
such a way that the curve is situated
between the MSS curve and the curve
for average temperature difference
Tm (temperature difference between
media temperature and evaporator
temperature.
Setting example = 4, 6 and 10K.
