[And it was evening and it was morning], the sixth day. And the heavens and the earth and all
their hosts were completed. And God finished by the seventh day His work which He had done,
and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. And God blessed the
seventh day and sanctified it, for on it He rested from all His work which God created to
function.
(Attention, Gentlemen!) Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, Who creates the
fruit of the vine. (Amen)
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His
commandments, has desired us, and has given us, in love and good will, His holy Shabbat as a
heritage, in remembrance of the work of Creation; the first of the holy festivals,
commemorating the Exodus from Egypt. For You have chosen us and sanctified us from among
all the nations, and with love and good will given us Your holy Shabbat as a heritage. Blessed
are You Lord, who sanctifies the Shabbat. (Amen)
Bendecido eres
tu Adonai nuestro Dios, quien santifica el Shabat. (Amen)
El Seder de TuBishvat
All:
May it be your will, O Lord God of our ancestors, that by virtue of
our eating fruits, which we shall eat and make blessings over now, and by our
meditating on their mystical and spiritual meanings, the fruit trees will be filled
with the strength of your abundant kindness, to grow and to flourish from the
beginning of this new year of the trees for goodness and for blessings, for good
life and for peace. (AMEN)
(AMEN)
Leader:
Today we will drink and eat as a way to symbolically connect to
nature and Gods creation. The fruits we will eat go from ones with hard shells to
fruits with pits and entirely edible fruits. These will symbolize the different levels
of Gods creation. The hard shell will represent asiyah - the physical world. The
fruits with pits will represent yetsirah formation - the world of the spiritual yet
still containing a physical element. And the fruits that are completely edible
represent beriah, where the worlds of spirituality and physicality are mixed
together. We will also drink four cups of wine to symbolize the four seasons of the
year.
Conductor:
As long as the earth exists , seed time and harvest time, cold
and heat, summer and winter and day and night shall not cease
Genesis 8:22
Nuts
Las nueces
One level of Gods creation is the physical world. This is called asiyah in
cabalistic terms. This is the world that we interact with on a daily basis as
we use Gods gifts to us to create things. The nut in wood in branch
represents the idea that the divine spark is hidden deep within each thing.
When we peel away the layers that hide the essence we find the divine
spark with in. The layers are called kelipot (shells) these shells are also
symbolic of the emotional and spiritual walls around our hearts and souls
that must be peeled away so that our true Godly essence shines.
nuestra esencia real espiritual y trascendental.
Rabbi Tarfon compared the Jewish people to a pile of walnuts. If one
walnut is removed, each and every nut in the pile is shaken and disturbed.
So it is with Israel. When a single Jew is in distress, every other Jew is in
trouble. (Shir Hashirim Rabbah 6:11)
afectados. (Shir Hashirim Rabah 6:11)
On Rosh Hashana, we eat symbolic foods and the
custom is not to eat nuts (egoz) because the word is
numerically equivalent in gematria to chait sin. Why
then do we eat them on the new year of the trees? Because (egoz) nuts is
also equivalent to good (tov). Reverence, awe of God and repentance are
the themes of Rosh Hashana we therefore avoid anything that has to do
with the word sin at all. But on the Rosh Hashana of the trees, love and
bounty presides so we connect to the word good which is also
numerically related to egoz.

(Shir Hashirim Rabah 6:11)
The almond tree has special significance for TuBishvat. The word almond in
Hebrew means to watch or wake. The Almond tree in Israel, is among
the first to awaken out of its winter sleep and by the fifteenth of the month
of Shvat it blooms announcing the arrival of spring.
The Carob or bokser in Yiddish has a special relationship to TuBiShvat as
well. During the war with the Romans, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai survived
by eating the fruit of the carob tree. The Hebrew word for carob is charuv.
The Hebrew words for sword (cherev) and destruction (churban) are similar
words. These remind us of the reason that we were dispersed from our good
land and that our temple was destroyed. The fact that we eat it however
reminds us that in the end we will be successful over the sword and all
manner of destruction.
cherev y destruccin churban estn relacionadas.
(As we say the blessing over the nuts we have in mind all of the resto f the fruits that
will also be eaten during this seder so that they are included with this blessing:)
God is the creator not only of the physical world but also the world of ideas. This
includes our capacity to think, feel, imagine and be creative. This is our ability to
meditate, pray and connect to an infinite number of ideas that are intangible. God
inspires the poet and the artist and common man at every moment with thoughts
and prayers. This is the world of yetsirah. When we eat fruits with pits we are
reminded that although we can access this world of ideas we are still limited by
our human physical essence which is within us.
crear, sentir nuestras emociones, hablar y cantar.
The Apple
Rabbi Hamma ben Rabbi Hanina explained the verse: As an apple tree among the
trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. (Song of Songs 2:3) Why
are the people of Israel compared to an apple tree? Because just as the apples on a tree
appear before the leaves do so the children of Israel said at Mount Sinai, we will do
before saying we will understand. (Babylonian Talmud Shabbat 88a)
partes tienen algn uso.
construccin. El pueblo judo es igual. Todos en cada
comunidad toman parte en el servicio divino. Algunos
conocen mucha Torah (TaNaCh), otros conocen
Mishnah, otros Agadot (leyendas) y otros hacen muchos mitzvot y otros
dan mucha tzedaka. (Midrash Rabbah Bamidbar 3:1)
The righteous shall flourish like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that are planted in
the house of the lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall bring
forth fruit in their old age; they shall be fat and flourishing: To declare that the
Lord is upright; he is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him.(Psalms
92:13)
The third cup of wine is red with some white mixed into it
representing the change from spring to summer and glow of the
flowers with its many colors.
The Fig
sabidura! (Ialkut Shimoni Iehoshuah 2)
Rabbi Yohanan said, What is the meaning of He who tends a fig tree will
eat its fruit? (Proverbs 27:18) Why is the Torah is compared to a fig
tree? Because its fruit does not ripen all at once, but a little each day.
Therefore the longer one searches in the tree, the more figs one finds in
it. So too with the Torah; the more one studies it, the more wisdom he
finds in it. (Talmud Bavli - Eruvin 54a)
(Talmud Bavli - Eruvin 54a)
Mari ben Mar said: What is meant by the passage in Jeremiah (24:1)
The LORD showed me a vision: Behold, there are two baskets of figs
placed before the temple of the Lord. One basket has good figs, like first
ripe figs, but the other basket had very bad figs so that they were
inedible. The good figs represent the truly righteous and the bad figs
represent the truly and completely evil. Perhaps you might think that the
latter have no hope and no chance of returning to God. But it says the
baskets (and that is both baskets) give forth their fragrance. (Song of
Songs 7:14) Both of these in the future will be fragrant, Eruvin 21a
Ambos
sern fragrantes en el futuro. (Eruvin 21)
The Fourth cup of wine is red representing the change from summer
to fall with its colors and breezes.
