Welcome to the CSBDI for the 2014-2015 College Basketball Season. We
here at the Mother Ship of the CSBDI, which is filled with only the finest
flowing beverages, break down the college basketball scene as we move
towards March and its madness. The breakdown that we construct, and the
analysis that we conduct, is the best in the business on this side of town.
Therefore, sit back, relax, and enjoy the CSBDI!
Before we start, a little about our authors:

Chris Capozzoli, 63 Power Forward, from Chicago, Illinois. Capozzoli is

a presence in the paint, and has the uncanny ability to finish around
the basket. His long arms provide for a defensive presence that alter
the play of opposing teams.
Jay Saras, 60 Shooting Guard, from the Bronx, New York. Saras has
the ability to create off the bounce, and is deadly from long range. He
consistently scores night in and night out.

CSBDI Edition I, Top 5 Teams

1. Kentucky This team looks like it may be able to run the entire college
basketball table, from start to finish. From November to April, this team
looks to be Goliath, and everyone else is just David. We as college
basketball fans are looking for that one team that will throw the stone to
knock down Goliath. Who will that team be? Arkansas? Florida? LSU?
Coach Calipari plays a platoon system with his team, which features nine
guys (it was ten, until the injury to Alex Poythress) who could all could
potentially play next year in the association. This team currently ranks
47th in points per game, but 2nd in points allowed per game. And we all
know, defense wins championships. Lets see what this week brings us
for the Wildcats.
2. Duke We know what you are thinking, ACC biased? Dickie V biased? To
be honest, that is not the case at all. The Blue Devils have the top player
in the country in Jahlil Okafor, and a legendary coach in Coach Krzyzewski.
This is a team that has the players to score, demonstrated by their
ranking of 11th in points per game. Our opinion is that this team goes with
the success and leadership of its young point guard, Tyus Jones. Jones
can score, and takes care of the basketball. We are not saying Okafor
isnt the star, we are just saying that Jones drives the Cadillac while
Okafor rides in the back (one could title this scenario as Driving Mr.
Okafor). Their major wart is their occasional unwillingness to sell out on
the defensive end. The showdown with UNC will be big on Wednesday,
February 18th
3. Virginia You want to talk about a team that plays defense, and plays it
well. The Cavaliers are ranked 1st in points allowed per game. Coach
Bennett and his Pack-Line defense bring a style of basketball that is
almost as enjoyable as listening to Dickie V do commentary. This team
has a light schedule through the month of February with bottom feeders
in the ACC, but it will be interesting to see how they respond to the
absence of Justin Anderson. Is this a team that could move up one step

on the NCAA ladder and take over the top spot with a Wildcat loss? We
shall see as the weeks move on.

4. Gonzaga The Zags are an interesting team. They have one loss on the
season, and that was to Arizona, at Arizona, who was ranked 3 rd at the
time, on the road. So what does that say? Their schedule is light, and we
here at the CSBDI Mother Ship hear the chants of PLAY SOMEBODY! It
isnt the fault of the Zags that no one wants to travel to Spokane, but will
it catch up to them come tournament time. Coach Few always has an
NCAA run in him and his team, but should they be considered to make a
run to the Final Four.

5. Wisconsin The Badgers supposedly play in a Power Five conference,

the Big Ten. However, there are only two other teams from the Big Ten
currently ranked in the top twenty-five (Maryland and Ohio State). That
being said, the Badgers play those two teams in the next few weeks
leading up to March. The Badgers are led by Coach Ryan, and have bigtime players in Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker. The Badgers control
their own destiny from now until March, and can make a considerable
push to the Final Four. (On a side note, we here at the CSBDI Mother
Ship think their head football coach is a BUM!)
