2015 MICHIGAN
RIDE CALENDAR
The Ride Calendar is the League of Michigan Bicyclists (LMB) signature publication
and an essential resource for bicycle enthusiasts in Michigan and beyond. With
support from the Michigan Department of Transportation and our advertisers, LMB
annually publishes and distributes over 40,000 Ride Calendars.
Ride Calendars are mailed to all LMB members each year. This publication is also
available via MDOT Welcome Centers, Convention & Visitors Bureaus, bicycle shops,
and at numerous bicycle-related events throughout the year.

Ride Calendar Online

The online version of the Ride Calendar is updated regularly by event
organizers. View updates at www.LMB.org/ridecal or scan this QR
code using a barcode reader app on your smart phone.

2016 Ride Calendar Submissions

Event Submissions: Rides and other bicycle-related events must be submitted
to the LMB website by October 19th, 2015 to ensure that they will appear in the

LMB TOURS & EVENTS

Join us in 2015 as we bicycle down Michigans canopied forest roads,
past beautiful inland lakes and along picturesque Great Lakes shorelines. Well show you breathtaking scenery, magnificent beaches,
unique shoreline communities and picturesque lighthouses.
LMBs bicycle tours are a major funding source for the Leagues
efforts to promote bicycling and the safety of bicyclists on the
roadways in Michigan. In addition to our tours, LMB also hosts an
annual Advocacy Day at the State Capitol. Please support our bicycle
education, advocacy, and promotion efforts by participating in LMB
events in 2015.

$1 PER RIDER EVENTS

In 2015, 64 events have pledged to donate $1 to LMB for every

participant. We are extremely grateful for their generous contributions in support of our efforts to promote bicycling and increase the
safety of bicyclists on Michigan roads. These dollars add up quickly,
providing LMB with essential funding that helps advocate for a more
bicycle-friendly Michigan. By choosing $1 Per Rider Events, you will be
supporting LMBs efforts to make Michigan a safer state for cycling.
The complete list of participating $1 Per Rider Events is listed on the
following page and are highlighted throughout this publication.

LMB MEMBER EVENTS

LMB relies on the support of our members in order to be the voice

for safe bicycling in Michigan. We sincerely appreciate the support
we receive from supporting clubs, shops, and organizations. Current
LMB member clubs, shops and organizations are listed on Page 26
(as of 1/26/15). These groups host many fantastic bicycle events each
year. We encourage you to support the groups that support us by
participating in their events this year. You can also make a personal
investment in better bicycling in Michigan by becoming a LMB
member today. Your membership helps ensure that bicycle advocacy
professionals are protecting your interests, keeping the roads open to
bicyclists, and working to educate the government and public about
the benefits of cycling and the rights of bicyclists. Learn more about
LMB membership on the inside back cover.

The Ride of Silence exists:

To HONOR those who have

been injured or killed

To RAISE AWARENESS that
we are here
To ask that we all SHARE THE
ROAD

On May 20th, 2015, at 7:00 PM,

cyclists in Michigan will take to
the road, joining our brothers and
sisters across the globe in the 2015
Ride of Silence (RoS), a silent procession to honor friends and family
who have been killed or injured
while cycling on public roads. RoS
is a free ride that asks cyclists to ride
no faster than 12 mph and remain
silent. Rides are typically 8 to 12
miles long. RoS, which is held during Bike Month, aims to raise awareness of motorists, public safety and
city officials that cyclists have a legal
right to the road. Check the RoS
website for full details, locations and
local contact information.

Annual Memberships
Becoming a LMB member ensures that full-time bicycleadvocacy professionals are protecting your interests,
keeping the roads open to bicyclists, and working to
educate the government and public about the benefits
of cycling and the rights of bicyclists. Membership aligns
you with bicyclists throughout Michigan to become part
of a proven, effective, grassroots advocacy organization.
There are approximately two million bicyclists in
Michigan; and we all know there is great strength in
numbers especially if we all pedal together. Whether
you are a racer, recreational rider, mountain biker,
tourist or commuter, the League of Michigan Bicyclists
represents your right to safe bicycling conditions.
