STATEMENT OF PURPOSE FOR MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAM IN ENGINEERING MECHANICAL FIELD

Sirs,
I am writing to apply for the Masters programme in Engineering-Mechanical Field, for
Autumn 2015 in which I am particularly interested. I am a 24 years old Male Mechanical
Engineer, having completed:

B.E.(Hons) Mechanical Engineering with a CGPA of 7.72 on the scale of 10 (First

Division) from BITS Pilani, Dubai Campus- UAE
2 years and 3 months hands on experience as Project Engineer in Infrastructure
Construction industry, specifically in Diesel Generators Installation, Design and
Complete Installation of Fuel transfer systems for Diesel Engines.

I believe, the knowledge gained through my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering with

courses in Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, and Material science &
Metallurgy, Production Technology, Metrology, Instrumentation, Design and Production
Management have provided commendable ground work for advanced study, and my
professional experience would serve me better in understanding about the Main concepts and
practical applications of the course.
For a given opportunity to join your Esteemed World class institution for Masters degree
program , where I can be trained to become an excellent engineer, I would like to work in the
practical and research areas of Engineering. I am interested to work on projects where I can
be exposed to the experimental and modelling aspects of research work, and my areas of
Interest includes Mechanical Engineering (General), Energy Engineering, Automotive
Engineering, Product Design and Development, and Transport Systems Engineering.
I consider myself to be highly self- confident and an ambitious individual. I prefer to lead the
path of logic and reasoning to solve the shortfalls of everyday life. During these school days I
was also a high achiever in the areas of music and games being an active participant in the
school music band and soccer team. It was during these school days I feel I have gained true
leadership qualities and opened my thought process to a whole new level. it has changed me
for the better and made me a highly motivated and inquisitive individual and has given me
the ability to solve any problem I put my mind on. I am a person who would lay the
foundation for beginnings or a person who start things up. During my professional service, I
was the first one to go for site surveys, submission of bids, negotiations and execution
including documentations and client meetings. I am sincere and dedicated in my endeavours
and nothing would stop me from achieving what I aim for. I believe my sincere approach,
dedicated attitude, motivational skills, commitment to excellence combined with the ability
to delegate, enabled me to lead my Project execution team to successful and timely
completion of Projects assigned. I have been appreciated by my University Professors and
my Employer, for my sincere and dedicated attitude.
During my Graduate studies, I developed an interest in advanced studies of CAD/CAM
software, which were external to my course contents. As such, I had to find time to complete

a course in " Foundation in Mechanical CAD" from CADD Centre training services, India. I
was also able to successfully complete the program requirements of "AutoCAD 2012
Certified Associate".
During my Bachelor program duration, I had undertaken an Academic and an Internship
oriented project as part of my graduate studies. Academic Project was on " Design and
Fabrication of Vortex tube", during 7th Semester of Graduate studies and Internship oriented
Project was on " Improvement of Cable Life in Winch machine" & " Design optimization of
Hydraulic Cable jack", during the Final semester internship in M/s. ELFIT ARABIA FZE,
AJMAN, UAE. During the course of the projects, I was able to understand and learn to
complete the Project with minimum required resources available and the importance of
timely completion. With the guidance and assistance from our Professional Faculty members,
I was able to successfully meet the deadline.
I consider Italy- one of the friendliest Nations of India, as my preferred destination for higher
studies as it is a research intensive and highly industrialized country and that the investment
in R&D is among the highest in the world. It is a best place for innovation and creativity and
provides an ideal environment for intellectual stimulation and holistic development of an
individual. Today Italy ranks among the 8 most industrialised countries in the world.
Alongside some big companies, both state-owned and private, it has developed a sound
network of small and medium-sized undertakings, promoted a few scientific parks, and is
incentivizing basic and applied research in a great variety of fields. Also, Italy is the fourth
largest national economy in Europe, the eighth largest nominal GDP in the world and is the
birth place of many world conquering companies like M/s. Saipem, M/s. Ducati Energia, M/s.
ansaldo Energia, M/s M/s. Maseratti, M/s. Ferrari, M/s. Fiat etc.
My objective is to become a Professional Engineer - trained in a World class Institution, a
good citizen and to contribute to the global community positively. While Masters Degree is
an advanced part of engineering studies, it is also a creative process. Engineering is a field
that not only requires great technological know-how but also understanding of the market
demands, geographical/environmental/cultural aspects and aesthetic sense to develop
something extraordinary. I believe, the knowledge gained through the Masters degree
program, can be put to use for the betterment of Global community, and I am sure that I have
chosen the right Institution to pursue this challenging area of Engineering, the institution
being one of the topmost institutions in the world and one of the best in Italy. The industrial
links provided by your institute I feel is one if not the best in the world
The journey ahead promises to be a challenging one, it may be no doubt be strenuous and
difficult at times. But then, the thrill one gets when discovers something new at the frontiers
of human knowledge, however small the contribution may be, is incomparable.
