SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
Successfully reduced many contractors claims; for example, a $39.3m formal claim by contractor
was, after a 17-page rebuttal, settled for $9.3m, a 76% saving and a $9m claim by an electrical
contractor, which after full investigation, was settled for $400k, saving 95%.
Completed projects achieving status of 3 years without a lost time injury on all projects.
Built strong relationship with Saudi Project Manager to overcome settlement of over 600 change
orders not processed worth several $m, negotiated/settled every one saving 50% on claims.
Took over management of projects that were behind schedule and, through innovative redirection,
recovered project schedules and budgets ($200m HFE Expansion project and Waste Water
Treatment plant project).

DIRECTOR of CONTRACT MANAGEMENT Kearl Oil Sands Project (KOSP)
Promoted with remit to manage these three phases Imperial Oil & Exxon Mobil $30bn development
project to develop six oil sand leases in North-Eastern Alberta, Canada; one of the eighth largest $
projects in the world. Manage contracts up to $515m, 6 directs and up to 1000 personnel.
Successfully reduced cost of claims when appointed on contracts. Inherited major problem re
many contracts: funding and legal obligations instructed to liaise directly with contractors to clarify
costs, agree correct figures to avoid costly claims.
Reduced many contractors claims for example:
$39.3m formal claim contractor on River Water Intake Facility; produced 17-page rebuttal
resulting in contractor settling claim for $9.3m, a 76% saving.
$9m claim by electrical contractor which after full investigation settled for $400k, saving 95%.
Key member of construction management team on Phase 1, consisting of a surface mine plant
facilities and the supporting infrastructure to produce 112kb/d annual average bitumen for
blending, transport and sale.
Managed contracts ranging from $5m to $515m for the Ore Preparation Plant, River Water Intake
Facilities, Total Suspended Solids and Surface Water Monitoring and temporary Construction
Buildings, Construction Power, Administration/Locker facilities and MSF Facilities.
