Question 1

A Kalimah is a combination of letters to form a word. A kalimah can be mufeed i.e. benefical and non
mufeed i.e. non beneficial. There are three types of kalimah:
1. Ism-Noun: This describes a name, place or thing. The meaning of a noun can be understood on
its own e.g kitab i.e. a book
2. Fail-Verb: This denotes action and can be past, present or future tense. The meaning of a verb
can also be understood on its own e.g. zaraba i.e. to hit.
3. Harf-Particle: This is a connecting word and the meaning of it cannot be understood on its own
e.g. fi i.e. in. If I were to say in people would ask me what in? So it needs supporting words to
give meaning to it.

Question 3
The two types of jumla are:
Jumla inshiya: This is a kind of sentence which has no possibility of being true or false
Jumla Khabariya: This kind of sentence has the possibility of being true or false.

Question 4
The types of Jumla Khabariya are:
Jumla Khabariya ismiya: This type of sentence begins with a noun. The second part can be a noun or
verb. The first noun is called mubtada or musnad ilaiya i.e. the thing about which news is being given.
The second part is khabar. There can be more than one khabar in a sentence. For example Allahu
Jameelun Kabeerun. Allah is beautiful and the most powerful. Allah is the mubtada and jameelun and
kabeerun are khabar. Also mubtada and khabar are both marfoo i.e. they have a dammah on the last
letter.

JKI=Mubtada + Khabar

Jumla Khabraiya Failiya: This type of sentence begins with a verb. The second part of the sentence is the
fail or the doer of the verb. So the sentence comprises the verb and fail (doer). There may or may not be
a mafool i.e. an object. The fair is always marfoo while the mafool is always mansoob i.e. have a Fattah
on the last letter.
JIF=Verb + Doer + Object

Has a round ta
Has a tanween i.e. a double dammah, kasrah or Fattah
Is preceded by huruf jar such as an, fi, aala.

Question 10
1) This is Jumla Ismia Khabraiya. We know this because it begins with a noun. We know that
Muhammad (SAAW) is a noun because it has a tanween on it. The first part i.e. Muhammadun
(SAAW) is the mubtada i.e. why it has a dammah because mubtada is always marfoo. The
second part RasulAllah (SAAW) is the khabar and since khabar is also always marfoo, rasul has a
dammah. Secondly Rasul is the mudaf and Allah (SWT) is the mudaf ilahi so that is why Allah has
a
kasrah
because
mudaf
ilahi
is
always
majroor.
2) This is JIK. We know this because it begins with a noun. We know al qalam is a noun because of
the alif laam. Al qalam is the mubtada and qadeemun is the khabar. Both have a dammah at the
end
because
both
mubtada
and
khabar
are
marfoo.
3) This is JIK. We know this because it begins with a noun. We know al hisan is a noun because of
the alif laam. This sentence has two khabars namely hawanun sarreun. The mubtada as well as
the
two
khabars
have
a
dammah
because
they
are
all
marfoo.
4) This is a Jumla Failiya Khabariya. We know this because it begins with a verb akala. Zaidun is the
fail i.e. the doer and tufahan is the object/mafool. Zaidun has a dammah because the doer is

always marfoo. Tufahan has a fattah because the mafool is always mansoob.
5) This is JIK. We know this because it begins with a noun baab. The term baab ul baiti is the
mubtada and maftoohun is the the khabar. Seconldy baab is mudaaf and albeit is mudaf ilahi.
Baab has a dammah because mubtada is always marfoo. Maftoohun also has a double dammah
because khabar is also always marfoo. Al bait has a kasrah because it is mudaf ilahi and MI is
alwys
majroor.
6) This is Jumla Failiya Khabariya. We know this because it begins with a verb. Then Allah is the
doer and an nas is the mafool. Allah has a dammah because the faail is always marfoo. An nas
has
a
Fattah
because
the
mafol
is
always
mansoob.

where is fel mentioned?

7) This is also a Jumla Failya Khbariya because it begins with a noun. Muhmmad is the doer and
----------------------------------book of Allah is the mafool/object. Muhammad has a dammah because doer is always marfoo
and kitaab has a Fattah because the mafool is always mansoob. Secondly kitab is mudaf and
Allah is MI. That is why Allah has a kasrah because MI is always majroor.
8) This is JIK because it begins with a noun. The mubtada is kitab u muhammadin and jaded is the
khabar. Also Kitab is the mudaf and Muhammad is the MI Muhammad and jadeed have a
dammah because both mubtada and khabar are marfoo. Muhamad has a kasrah because MI is
always majroor.
9) This is JIK because it begins with a noun. The mubtha is ismu waladu and the khabar is yasir. Also
Ismu is mudaf and walad is MI. Ismu and yasir has a dammah because mubtada and khabar are
both always marfoo. While walad has a kasrah because MI is always majroor.
10) This is JIK because it begins with a noun. We know Quran is noun because is the alif laam. Quran
is the mubtada and kitabul Allah is the khabar. Kitab is the mudaf and Allah is the MI. Quran and
Kitab have a dammah because mubtada and khabar are always marfoo and Allah has kasrah
because
MI
is
always
majroor.
11) This is JIK because it begins with a noun. We know that al jibal is a noun because it has alif alam.
Jiba is mubtada and taweelun and kaberun are the two khabars. All three of them are marfoo
because
mubtada
and
khabars
are
always
marfoo.
12) This is JIK because it begins with a noun. We know al kitab is a noun because of the alif laam. Al
fel + faail= jfk = khabar
kitab is the mubtada and qara talibun is the khabar. Kitab and talibun have a dammah because
-------------the
mubtada
and
khabar
are
always
marfoo.
13) This is JIK because it begins with noun. The whole term masjidu RasulAllah is the mubtada and
jameelun is the khabar. RasulAllahs (SAAW) masjid is beautiful. Here Masjid is the mudaf and
Rasul is the MI. Then again Rasul is the mudaf and Allah is the MI. Hence both Rasul and Allah

have a kasrah as MI is always majroor. Masjidu and jameelun have a dammah because both
mubtada
and
khabar
are
always
marfoo.
14) This is Jumla Failiya Khabariya because it begins with a verb. Bint u zaid is the doer/Faail and
kitabuAllah is the object/mafool. Also Bint is the mudaf and zaid is the MI. Then Kitab is the
Mudaf and Allah is the Mi. Hence both Zaid and Allah have a kasrah because MI is always
majroor. Then bint has a dammah because it is the doer and the doer is always marfoo. Then
kitab has a fatha because it is the mafool/object and mafool is always mansoob.
15) This is a Jumla Failiya Khabariya because it begins with a verb. Ibad ul Allah is the doer and youm
ul fasal is the object. Also Ibad is the mudaf and Allah is the MI. Youm is the Mudaf and Fasal is
the MI. Hence Allah and Fasal have a kasrah because the MI is always majroor. Ibad has a
dammah because the doer is always marfoo. Then Youm has a Fattah because the
mafool/object is always mansoob.
