We

Press On

One and one- half years ago,

we shared with you our goal to
start a church in each major town
in Southwest Haiti.

This summer,

we will be Pressing On in accom

plishing that goal by starting

Petif

Goave

church

in P e t i t Goave.

Funds

are being provided by a "mother

church" in the U.S. helping us
to firmly plant this new work.
Land has been purchased, and a
meeting facility will be built
this summer.
Wayne and Chris
will be working to plant the church
in Petit Goave,
Jane will

while Brian and

continue

to nurture

the congregation at Ticousin.

Planting this church has been
a long matter of prayer and waiting
for God's direction!

It

i s excit

and we are filled with joy."

Ticousin

Ticousin...
The word

for Ticousin

is;

"Steady Growth"!
Four people
were baptized this past week,
bringing the total to 11 new
Christians

in 1987.

We Press

On trying to teach and nurture

these new Christians and t r a i n
leaders.
There are a t o t a l
of 4 d i f f e r e n t mid-week Bible

Study classes and 2 mid-week

services.

The children's church

building is already too small!

We are averaging over 100 children
ren on Sunday morning!

SPECIAL VISITORS
Our f i r s t work group arrived
in Haiti on April 24, 1987.
The
team consisted of 5 medical personnel,
a former elementary teacher, and
a photographer.
Each member of
the team had a specific goal to

use their "time,

talent,

and treasure,"

to glorify Christ in Haiti.

T-3" did just that!

"Project

In 3 days,

a t o t a l of 390 adults and children

were consulted in the "make-shift"
medical c l i n i c .
ALL 97 school

children were given a

Thorough

examination and vaccinated!

Fifteen
additional children were vaccinated.
A seminar was held for the school
teachers.
Over 25 r o l l s of film

were taken;

90 of the pictures

were of school children enrolled

for next year.

Truly, this team did
expend
their "time, talent, and treasure,
in the Lord's Service.
They touched
the lives of many Haitians!
Thanks Again, to Bob, "Dr. Bob",
Anita, Kay, Perry, Joyce, Toni,
and Kent, for a job well done!!

Reaching Children for Christ

Last year, we presented
a need to help give 97 children
a chance to go to school. Many
of you reached out and met
that need!
You are helping Co
educate, feed, provide medical
care,

and teach a l l of these

children about Jesus and His

love for them.

We

Have Made Only a

Dent

in helping the chil4ren in

the Ticousin community!
Daily,
parents come literally pleading
to put their children in school.
We are stepping out in faith
again this year!
We will be
adding 90 more children to

the school in 1987!

Once again,
we turn to you, God's Children
to help a hungry needy child.
If you are interested in
sponsoring, please write to
us at the Indianapolis address.
Thanks!!

For those interested in helping this year through VBS

projects.

enclosed are a list of needs.

Thanks!

Yours in Christ,

For the first time since the

SATAN'S DISTURBANCES
A year ago, a middle-aged woman. Sister
Ermance, began visiting the church in
Ticousin. After hearing the Gospel, she

was baptized, and continued faithfully

attending Church and Bible Study. Ermance
had a true desire to leam and grow, but
there were hindrances at home. Her husband
and oldest sons were voodoo adherents. After

several months Ermance began having problems.

Her personality began to change, and she

began to go into violent rages. The leaders
of the church went to visit Ermance several

times, but when they asked permission to

prayi and help her, the family refused.

Instead, they turned to voodoo, and while
we were in the U.S. they took Ermance to the
"hugan", the voodoo witch-doctor. Sunday,

We are very happy to announce that
Brian and Jane Switzer will be joining
us in our efforts to plant indigenous
churches in southwest Haiti. Brian is a

graduate of Kentucky Christian College,

and Jane has a degree in Respiratory

Therapy, as well as a wide variety of

experience and training in the Medical
Field.

Brian and Jane moved to Haiti

in June, 1986, They used this time to

leam Creole, acquaint themselves with
Haitian culture, and begin preaching and

teaching in the local congregation. In

September, they will begin working with
us in starting the church in Petit Goave.
Brian will be responsible for preaching

and training leadership, while Jane will

be helping with the school sponsorship

program and school clinic.

We Thank God

for sending us Brian and Jane, and covet

your prayers in their behalf.

church. Ermance had scars on her wrist

where it is quite possible that the witch

doctor tried to bleed-out the evil spirit

lie thought was in her.

Ermance is now in

the care of the church congregation.

There was a special prayer service held

Sunday, and we are continuing to pray

fervently that God will heal her mind and

body. Please pray for Ermance, and that
the Gospel will be preached in a manner
that will overpower the hold that voodoo
has on the country of Haiti.
