Target Audience

A one-day comprehensive course


addressing principles of mobility in the
Intensive care unit

This course is intended for healthcare


professionals particularly nurses, respiratory
therapists, physical therapists, occupational
therapists, and physicians who care for
hospital based patients.

Ten lectures with leaders from Inova


Fairfax Medical Campus and Johns
Hopkins Hospital.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the participant
will be able to:
Describe clinical decision-making
guidelines of progressive mobilization
of the critically ill patient.
Identify strategies needed to
implement a successful early mobility
program in the ICU.
Describe barriers to progressive
mobility.
Discuss methods for screening
candidates for early mobility.
Describe the role of respiratory
therapy in early rehabilitation
programs.
Discuss strategies to mobilize ICU
