NIH Fellowships for Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Trainees

The Training Program in Mechanisms of Virus-Host Interactions focuses on the pathogenesis of viral diseases of
humans and animals, and includes viral oncology. Our goal is to develop junior scientists and investigators who have
strong fundamental knowledge of virology and laboratory research, preparing them for careers at universities and in
industry to confront the challenges of understanding infectious diseases. Our Training Faculty are experienced
researchers from Icahn School of Medicine (MSSM) and NYU School of Medicine (NYUSOM). We provide
prestigious training fellowships funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Kirschstein National Research
Service Award (NRSA) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The primary objective of the
NRSA program is to prepare individuals with exceptional academic credentials and potential, for careers that have a
significant impact on the Nation's biomedical research agenda. MSSM and NYUSOM offer positions for four predoctoral trainees and four post-doctoral candidates on an annual basis.
Eligibility and Requirements
Only US citizens or permanent residents are eligible to apply. Pre-doctoral positions require admission to the
graduate program of MSSM Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences or NYU Sackler Institute of Graduate
Biomedical Sciences. Post-doctoral trainees require a Ph.D. and or M.D. Both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral trainees
are required to hold a position within the laboratory of a Training Faculty.
Application Process
A Request for Applicants is distributed on an annual basis to the Training Faculties. The Admission committee
reviews the requested material (see below) and selects the most qualified applicants to join the Training Program.

breast cancer stem cells. Working at the interface of normal and cancer stem cell fields, we aim to establish a multifaceted and dynamic research program, which will yield useful insights for both regenerative medicine and cancer
therapy.
A strong training background in molecular and cell biology, cancer biology and/or stem cell biology is desirable. To
apply, please email CV, a summary of the previous research experience and the future research interest, and the
