MultibowlTM wellhead systems

Our vision of safer, more efficient drilling and

production equipment has lead to many valuable
innovations through the years. From rapid make-up
connections like the NT-2 and Quick Connect System
(QCS), to the multibowl compact wellhead design, we
continually create superior solutions that decrease
the overall time and cost associated with drilling and
production processes.

Multibowl wellhead systems

Quick Connect System (QCS)

In the 1950s, we pioneered the multibowl concept to

reduce rig time by decreasing the number of times the
BOP stack connection is broken. This is accomplished by
suspending multiple strings of casing or tubing within one
wellhead component. Through the last six decades, our
multibowl wellhead system has become even faster, lighter
and more compact.

The VetcoGray QCS wellhead is a faster, safer, and more

flexible solution for todays surface drilling applications.
Dramatic rig-time savings are achieved by decreasing the
time needed between casing installations. The time and
concern associated with hot work is eliminated with a
pre-installed landing ring that provides the connection
point for the wellhead on the conductor. The QCS
connection design also eliminates the time and safety
concerns associated with hammers and hammer wrenches
to make and break the wellhead connections. The use
of mandrel-style hangers eliminates waiting on cement
common with slip type casing hanger designs.

Our current family of VetcoGray multibowl systems

includes the latest technology to reduce non-drilling time,
enhance safety, and lower the total cost of every well.
GE Oil & Gas has an extensive record of multibowl experience
in the worlds major oil fields, both onshore and offshore. We
have provided multibowl wellhead systems for high-pressure,
sour-gas exploration, deepwater applications, and for use with
mudline suspension equipment. No matter what the situation,
the multibowl wellhead system can get the job done
decreasing cost and increasing safety at the same time.

The combination of all these design features significantly

decreases the time that personnel are under the rig floor,
therefore providing a safer, more efficient work environment.
The VetcoGray QCS wellhead is also flexible with components
designed for online or offline cementing, fracing capabilities
up to 10,000 psi, and drilling adapters for increased pressures.
With average rig time savings of one day, the QCS is a
faster, safer and more cost effective solution.

NT-2 wellhead connector

Sliploc wellhead connector

VG-loc wellhead connector

The VetcoGray NT-2 is a superior alternative to traditional

flanges and clamps overcoming slow make-up time, hightorque requirements, and handling difficulties inherent in API
bolted flanges as well as large segmented clamps. In 1992, the
NT-2 connector was distinguished as the worlds fastest makeup wellhead connector by Petroleum Engineer International
magazine. The NT-2 family offers a full range of sizes and
pressure ratings, fully fire tested to API 6FB (Part II) and
performance verified to API 6A, PR2 (-75F to 350F).

The VetcoGraySliploc connector is used with modern highperformance systems to provide a quick, permanent casinghead connection
over field-cut conductor casing. It utilizes set screws to
actuate the slip-style connection fixing the casing head to
the conductor. The adaptable Sliploc connector allows for
elastomer sealing or metal-to-metal sealing.

The VG-loc connector is used with exploration systems and

designed for fast, reliable make-up for diverter systems
and casing heads onto plain-end pipe without welding. The
connector stabs over a field-cut casing stub, then locks
and seals to the stub utilizing a slip assembly actuated by
set screws that drive and hold the slips against the pipe.
Unlike the VetcoGray Sliploc connector, the VG-loc connection
can be broken and the connector can then be utilized in
future applications.

HP/HT drilling and completion systems

Close-Proximity Wellhead (CPW) systems

In 1972, we developed the first 20,000 psi completion system

for sour-gas wells. Two years later, we evolved it to the first
30,000 psi system. Today, we continue leading technological
developments for life-of-reservoir, high-pressure, hightemperature and corrosion-resistant wellheads for all media,
particularly the most challenging: gas and gas condensate.

VetcoGray close-proximity wellhead systems enable two

or more wellbores to be placed within a single conductor
or caisson with production through adjacent independent
wellhead systems.
Platforms with available slots are often seen as the first
candidates for incorporating a CPW. When combined with
3D seismic, extended-reach drilling, horizontal drilling and
multilateral completions, a few well-placed additional
completions can have a dramatic positive effect on field
production economics.
Additional benefits can be derived by reducing the overall
size of new structures or eliminating the need for additional
structures to develop existing fields.

Horizontal Tree (HT) systems
VetcoGray horizontal tree technology allows complete access
to the well bore without the need to remove a conventional
vertical tree. The well is produced through the side of the
tubing hanger, flowing out through the master valve. Our HT
systems are ideal for wells that may require frequent downhole completion recovery, or where there are limited height
requirements.
Our HT systems provide an economic solution in natural-flow
well applications, since they do not require a conventional
riser/workover system. With our proven all-metal seals,
VetcoGray HT horizontal trees are suitable in every type
of reservoir condition, from low-pressure submersible
pump applications to natural-drive high-pressure/hightemperature gas fields.

with electric feed-through mandrels for ESPs from a variety
of manufacturers. All of our major product lines can be
configured to fit your ESP completion requirements. Our
equipment is designed to have minimal configuration impact
on the wellhead system and drilling operations. Only the
completion equipment (tubing hanger and tubing head
adapter) are modified to incorporate the feed-through mandrel.

CH hydraulic actuator
The CH actuator fully complements all the VetcoGray
gate valve lines along with a broad range of valve sizes
and pressure ratings, for maximum application coverage.
It is a hydraulic fail-safe actuator designed for surface
applications, with many features based on our OP (general
subsea applications) and OPCH (deepwater applications)
actuator technology, which has been used successfully in
subsea applications since 1985.
CH-CTS hydraulic actuator
This variant of our CH line is designed to shear coil tubing,
a process requiring a large amount of closing force
that cannot be delivered by the actuator springs alone.
Therefore, the spring chamber is designed as a pressure
vessel so it can be pressurized with the hydraulic supply.
An additional benefit of this design is that this reservoir
can also be used as a quick-dump reservoir enabling
significant reductions in actuator closing times during
normal operation.
