General Information
GRIRO was established in 1897, at the present location in Bucharest,
becoming the most important workshops of the Romanian National Railways for
manufacturing and repairing of locomotives and railway cars.
Since 1961 the company has changed its line of business, being authorized to
design and manufacture process equipment and during the years its facilities as well
as its capability have been proved and recognized for these activities by many clients
and inspection organizations.
Today, GRIRO is a shareholding company, with a paid capital of 4, 41 million
RON and 730 employees (as of July 2006), having an annual capacity of 5,000 tons of
process equipment and parts.
The company's facilities consist of several office buildings, workshops, and
warehouses with an overall area, of 116,360 sqm out of which the covered space is of
71, 011 sqm.
GRIRO manufactures process equipment in following material grades: carbon,
low alloy, stainless steels, cladded materials including Monel, Incoloy, Inconel as well
as nickel alloys.
GRIRO is an integrated manufacturer with all the production facilities needed
for process equipment manufacturing and inspection from cutting, bending, forging,
welding, machining, heat treatment, non-destructive examinations, mechanical tests,
and hydraulic pneumatic and leak tests to blasting, painting, packing as well as inland
transportation.

1897 Foundation of "Central Railways Shops". Repairing of steam engines and
wagons
1945 Repairing of 4 axles railway cars
1961 Chemical equipment manufacturing division was created
1968 "Intreprinderea de Utilaj Chimic Grivita Rosie" became independent
manufacturer of process equipment
1972 Design and manufacture of pressure vessels according to ASME code
1979 Commissioning of new shops for manufacturing of thick-wall reactors and
tire curing presses
1982 First "Clean Room" for special equipment
1986 "Intreprinderea de Utilaj Chimic Grivita Rosie" was authorized by ASME to
design and manufacture pressure vessels and to apply U and U2 stamps
