Phonics
Review
In phonics the children will be reviewing all
of the three letter words learnt so far in units
1, 2 and 3 of the new Oxford Phonics World
2 books.
This will include a total of 36 key words from
11 word families. They are as follows:
Cat, ant, yak, ax
Ram, jam, yam, dam
Fan, man, pan, can
Dad, pad, rag, bag
Cap, map, nap, tap
Bat, rat, hat, mat
Web, egg, vet, ten
Jet, net, wet, pet
Hen, pen, red bed.
The children will be playing a variety of
Sentence structure:
Is it a living or non-living thing? It is a living thing/non-living thing.
Games:
We are going to use the flashcards for the focus topics to play games such as
splat, duck, duck, goose and flashcard draw. This is to learn the vocabulary that
we will be using during this topic.
Songs/Videos:
We are going to listen to the circle of life song.
New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
No new letters, sounds or vocabulary will be taught this week as the children will be
reviewing in preparation for their test. All three letter words to be reviewed are listed in the
phonics section.
For activity the new words are: Living, non-living, alive, dead, live, die.
Breath, breathing, air. Eat, food, drink, water.
Animals, plants and people are living things.
Mountains, buildings etc are non-living things.
