ALGORITHMIST

INTRODUCTION :
Do algorithms fascinate you? Do you feel the adrenaline rush while coding?
If yes, then its the place to be, competing against other participants to get
your code Accepted as fast as possible. Its your chance to show who the best
ALGORITHMIST is.
RULES & REGULATIONS:
1. A team based event, not more than 2 participants per team.
2. Consists of 2 rounds: Prelims and Finals

a. Prelims will be hosted twice:

I. Online Prelims (on www.hackerrank.com) on 3rd January 2015
from 6pm to 9pm. 25 teams will be selected from online prelims.

II. Onsite prelims to be held on 16th January 2015 at IEM Gurukul
Campus, Kolkata. 15 teams will be selected from the same.

b. Finals will be hosted on 18th January 2015 at IEM Gurukul Campus,
Kolkata with top 40 teams competing (25+15).
3. No Books or pen drives are allowed .
4. Any sort of malpractices will lead to immediate disqualification of the team
in question.
5. Decision of the coordinators will be final.
Event Details:
Prelims:
Online:
1. Will consist of 4 questions based on algorithms.
2. Time duration allotted is 3 hours.
3. The allowed languages are C, C++ or JAVA.
4. A Penalty of 20 minutes for every solution that is not accepted.
5. Top 25 teams will be selected to take part in the onsite final round to be held

Onsite:
1. Will consist of 15 MCQ questions and 4 programming questions.
2. Time duration allotted is 3 hours.
3. The MCQ questions will be based on C, C++ and JAVA.
4. The allowed languages for coding are C, C++ or JAVA.
5. +3 for correct MCQ and -1 for wrong answer.
6. A Penalty of 20 minutes for every solution that is not accepted.
7. Top 15 teams will be selected to take part in the onsite final round to be held
on 18th January 2015.
Finals:
1. Consist of 5 problems.
2. Time allotted is 3 hours.
3. The allowed languages are C, C++ or JAVA.
4. A Penalty of 20 minutes for every solution that is not accepted.
General Information:
1. Each team will be provided with single machine with Linux OS.
2. No IDE will be provided.
3. Further information will be provided during the event.
Prize:
1. Attractive cash prizes to be won:

a. 1st Prize: INR 5000

b. 2nd Prize: INR 3000

c. 3rd Prize: INR 2000
2. All the final round participants will get ACM events certified certificates.

For participants who get selected in online round and are out station students:
1. A traveling re-imbursement will be made of sleeper class train Tickets.
2. Accommodation will be provided to the out station Students.
3. Food will NOT be provided.
4. Any Changes in the above information will be informed to the registered
participants.
