SITEinPDMS:
Inaproject,thePlotPlanortheoveralllayoutisdividedintoseveralsubareasbasedonthesheet(A0or
A1)andthescale(eg.1:100or1:50)usedfordevelopingtheequipmentlayout.
Intheequipmentlayoutforeachsubareatherearedifferentequipment&componentsofeachdiscipline
i.e.MechanicalEquipment,Piping,Electrical,Instrumentation,etc.Thesesubareasareusedtocreate
SITESinPDMS.

InPDMSthereareindividualSITEScreatedfordifferentdisciplinesforeachsubareas.Referringtothe

examplethedeckareaisdividedintofoursubareasAREA1,AREA2,AREA3&AREA4bythethickred

ForeachcategorythereisaZONEcreatedinPDMS.
eg.Inaprojecttherearedifferentfluidcodesorservices(i.e.CD,CO,FW,OD,etc.),sothepipescanbe
categorizedasperthefluidcodesorservices.Usingtheabovecategorizationintheexamplethereare
differentZONEScreatedforeachfluidcodeorserviceasPAREA1/PIPECD,PAREA1/PIPECO,PAREA
1/PIPEFW,PAREA1/PIPEOD.
TheabovesplitofWORLD,SITE&ZONEcanbeseenintheFig.3.
GenerallyinaprojectthecreationofSITES&ZONESistheresponsibilityofPDMSadministrator.
ThePDMSdesignerwillnothavepermissiontocreateSITE&ZONEintheproject.PDMSdesignerhasthe
rightsonlytomodeltheequipment&componentintheZONE.
SowhilemodelingthePDMSdesignerhastocheckthephysicallocationofthecomponentonthePlotplan&
equipmentlayoutthenselecttheproperZONEinPDMSbeforestartofthemodeling.
