The Pavement

6_The_Pavement_Joe_Reinsel.jpg

I have created a work that brings Jane Jacobs words directly to

the sidewalk. Hearing these excerpts while walking in
Washington DC added a new vantage point to understand her
text. This audio walk invited people to walk and listen. I placed
5 audio recordings around the vicinity of the Corcoran Gallery
of Art. Each are marked with a distinct branding that people
found out on the street using a smartphone and a QR decoder
application.

URBANtraces

9_URBANtraces_JoeReinsel.jpg

URBANtells was originally a collaboration between artists Joe

Reinsel, James Rouvelle and Steve Bradley. Their work together
as URBANtells focused on the intricacies between architecture,
cityscape and the human and cultural geography found within
any city. URBANtells art practice involves the use of various
forms of low and high technology to engage the residents,
transients and lost inhabitants of the city. The underlying
concern of the collective is to use the various forms of
technology in ways that foster, collect and redistribute urban
culture in or as close to real time, to classify experiences, and
to encode and communicate them symbolically through
wireless transmitted linear and non-linear narratives.
