On Saturday, February 21 , at around 7 pm, officers were summoned

to The Putnam Den, which is located on Putnam Street. Upon
arrival there they located 2 victims of an assault that had taken
place at the establishment a few minutes prior. The 37 year old
male victim was a bartender there at the Putnam Den and the 22
year old female victim was a patron.
The female victim had been there at the bar alone when MacFarland
Jr, who was an acquaintance of the females, walked inside.
MacFarland Jr immediately started a verbal assault on the female
and subsequently picked up a bar stool and threw it over the bar.
This caused significant damage to the bar area.
The bartender then ordered MacFarland Jr out of the bar, which
MacFarland Jr failed to do. MacFarland Jr continued to yell at
the female and the bartender approached MacFarland Jr. MacFarland
Jr then attacked the bartender and the bartender attempted to
defend himself.
At that point MacFarland Sr came into the bar and went after the
bartender as well. MacFarland Sr violently yanked on the
bartenders arm, which caused it to dislocate. Both MacFarland Jr
and Sr next exited the bar, with MacFarland Sr physically pulling
the female outside the bar as they exited.
Once outside a verbal exchange took place and the female victim
was punched in the stomach by MacFarland Jr. Both MacFarland Jr
and Sr then left the scene.
Officers were able to find both MacFarland Jr and Sr a short time
later. They were taken into custody without incident.
The female sustained minor injuries from the attack. The
bartender needed to be transported to Saratoga Hospital for
emergency treatment.
Arraignment information was not available.
